This has been a long time coming. Ever since Novaro closed, I've been looking for a replacement, mostly a community replacement, but the gameplay definitely did matter.

Upon my inception on the server, it immediately became a learning curve, and felt quite hectic to play. Knowing everything and nothing at the same time, really put things into perspective and forced me to actually re-learn what I knew about 4th jobs, and episode 18+19. Novaro had a custom idea in regards to these episodes (although they never reached 19) but this server is a direct 1:1 copy of kro, with very lenient drop rates and systems that help you progress in gearing. If anything is a casual server before the end game, it's this.

Community: At first, I hated being on this server, because people were fighting over their view of what the server should be, and offering an opinion actually COULD make those changes happen. There was a lot of greedy, selfish, and obviously abusive people who tried to create a hierarchy AFTER benefitting from a system, then promoting a new system to create a grind for newer players. I found this very disturbing, and I stepped in any chance I could to prevent such an ideology from ever coming to pass. After months of bickering, I think people realized the GMs will not lean in any specific direction, and such ideas died down, almost indefinitely. Since then, this server has inherited a very happy and stable community. It almost feels like people come here after a stressful day of work, just to unwind and feel at home. There is very little bickering, discussions are on a very personal basis, so you know everyone knows each other. Most questions are answered, but they usually offer personal help instead for better understanding. The community itself is very active for being so small (120+ individual logins at all times/no vends) , but I will say that they are only as active as the GM team, which says a lot about their daily participation, unlike the silence most servers experience until a patch note. Parties do happen, and people will join, but most will want to party for an endgame instance/dungeon, which is where it's most needed. I really don't know what else to say. This is a married-into type of community, and once you're part of it, you begin to understand.

Leveling: This server is 50x base, 50x job server. You will breeze through most of the earlier content, which is unfortunate, but you have the possibility of changing your rates to 1x, if you want the full experience. You will most likely not encounter someone leveling to 200, but if you do, consider joining them, as it helps drastically. This server has board quests, and they're very generous, so you will have a choice and basically a guide to your next location, incase you're lost and don't know where to level. Eden group offers gear with a small quest in mind, which also includes shadow gears that are eventually good until endgame. If you ask where to level, you will also be offered leeches, because there are daily board quests which people farm for items they need, so you will never get stuck being too weak to do anything, and once you reach 200, there is a large boost in damage, so you will be able to continue on your own from there.

Gearing: Over time, there has been changes done to our gearing process. I also believe some are still happening, because outdated gear should not feel like a grind for end game gear. The GMs understood this, and have offered some changes, which is great. Due to our market and zenny per mob system, along with our daily board quests which offer materials for crafting items, gearing is quite simple before 200. You will casually grind illusion dungeons, progress to core and varmundt, and get your grace set so you can have a steady set. Beyond that, you have many choices which will be offered to you, which reading the wiki will help you make. For level 2 weapons and armor, we are given a pity system for upgrade failures, which makes it less of a cruel world, and more of successful system which eventually put a smile on your face.

Market: Because this is a farming server full of board quests, the prices of things are really stable by force. Most early/mid game gear are affordable, and crafting items hold enough value and are sold frequently enough to net profit. The server has a currency which is obtained quite frequently and will always retain value because it is used as the shop currency, while retaining MORE value than straight donation points because it can be used to buy specific things that donation points themselves cannot. Overall, it is pretty active and pretty healthy, for old and new players, and I have not found any monopolies, aside from one, but it's still considered an uncontested mob in my opinion, which will eventually get the proper competition it deserves.

Staff: GM Muh and his wife, GM Icecold, are quite a pair. They have endured a revolting community of Novaro players for months, and have had patience and kept their composure since I have been there. Their dedication to make this the most BORING, most UNEVENTFUL playground, where everyone involved simply exists to be happy and feel nothing but joy with their time spent on the server, is something I believe cannot be ignored. They do their best to be fair, to try to compensate what issues arise, and just reward their community for being active. They are active daily, and they speak quite often, unlike other servers where a GM retains a circle they speak to. Events are held by them daily, and event GMs have been hired to add to things happening around the clock. It's just something that is hard to talk down to, because they're really trying to keep people happy. So, if you enjoy events and communication with the GMs, then this is the place for you.

Discord: Very gossipy place, fun to ask questions, fun to poke someone you know, and engaging in a conversation was very inviting in my time. I have not spent as much time there recently, but the community seems to still be active enough, especially on the global channel. It is worth just staying online and seeing what is happening from the game, or join in the polls, or even read some suggestions. Not much voice activity, but definitely lots to read.

PVP: This is a subject I am not versed in any longer, (too competitive and would consume myself @_@) but Muh and Ice have been trying to promote engagement in WOE and BG in the last few months. Not sure how well that's going, but it's not a silent subject and I believe has dedicated players who discuss what would be considered a fair status to all players in regards to nerfs. There are some nerds within this pack, and one I know personally, and I know he will make sure that your ASURA MAIN is still a viable choice within WOE and BG. :D

Stability: There have been issues in the past, but things have really been stable lately. Server only goes down during maintenance, and if it does go down, GM Aida is pinged, and poor Muh has to wake up to fix it. Unfortunate for him, but something that's happened on some occasions. From what I've read, it has been quite boring and stable. :D

I'm not sure what else to add, I've never really properly written one of these. It is important for me to note that I hated this server when I first began, and I thought I would leave indefinitely, but it is the only place I can truly call home after the unfortunate closure of Novaro. The people here are mostly refugees of Nova, and quite possibly refugees from other unfortunate servers closing suddenly, so if you're also one of those unfortunate people who just needs somewhere to be, to feel like you're part of a community who wants to have fun and not chase the holy grail that is end game, then this is the perfect place for you. Give it a try and enjoy the learning curve of renewal, while jumping into an event and get to know why this community has lasted this long, and still continues to grow ever so slightly.

One more thing: When I say BORING, I mean, no one is trying to do some deep dive investigation into anything, or create some sort of revolt with the intention of making the server owners look bad. It's just a calm place, where you can farm, dress up, and enjoy your time. This has been quite a drama-free zone, and when something did happen, it was quite brief and quiet. In other words: Boring. :D

I know this was long and not very brief, but thank you for reading.

The server's domain is .eu, so I suppose the server is hosted in Europe (if you can verify this information, please do), not the cup of tea of a lot of players from other regions.

I love that the server has a linux client almost from official sources, I want to get out of Microsoft's claws, so knowing this It's a great sign.

I have my personal opinion about Nova and any other kind of Renewal server I read about, so I just want to point down these two things before and just say that it's awesome your review and hope it gets more players there.

Have great adventures!

Yes, it's located in France. There are some proxies, they can help but also can't bypass physical laws.

And just to clarify it's the patcher that has a native Linux version.

Another Nova refugee here. Pretty much agreeing with the OP, and giving a huge plus for the server location due to residing in EU myself (and boy do I know just how rare EU localized servers are nowadays). Been a stable server for me and feeding all of my renewal needs.  /ok

Thank you everyone for mentioning the location and the proxies. I wrote that quite late at night. @_@

Origins was also in france and I had decent ping.

I'll try the client on Fedora just for fun.
