iRO annouces f2p server

I have a fellow RO-aholic telling me that there is no safe refine limits on the F2P Valkyrie server.   Anyone heard anything about this?

Yeah, the safe limit is 0, unless you for refined elu (kafra shop item) then it's the regular safe levels.

So did anyone else get some person from Gravity promoting this server on their forums?

iRO Valkyrie server - free to play

Today, Thursday September 25, 2008 we are going to pre-launch our newest addition to iRO. The Valkyrie server is our iRO Free to play server, any account confirmed and available for play will be able to access the Valkyrie server.

There are a few differences between the Valkyrie server, and what will be known as our Premium Servers (Chaos/Loki/Iris). Experience and item drops are a little lower on the Valkyrie server, and a few game systems are tweaked as well. But the game play should be the game we all know and love; Ragnarok.

Please visit our update page for information on the precise differences between the Valkyrie and Premium servers. We will be updating our FAQ and Forums with more specific questions regarding Kafra Shop, Value-added-services, and other emergent questions and answers.

We look forward to seeing many more Heroes joining us on our adventure through Rune-Midgard!

PS.  This thread shouldnt be deleted or removed since i am not advertising any Private servers.  I am just merely informing players of news update regarding kRO/iRO which i see no wrongs.

After we deleted the topic, we got an exact same one again, saying:

You guys really show your colours, by deleting my threads over and over again when i didnt break any rules.  Is there a punishment for mention iRO? or kRO or any of the official servers? First and foremost, you have someone running around spamming advertisements on the forums of private servers. That's honestly something I see horrible, corrupted servers doing. Not only that, the person clearly had the gull to say it wasn't advertising when it blatantly was. Or maybe they're really dumb don't know what advertising is.

Although, I'm pretty sure this person isn't a Gravity staff member. If they are, then they just made their business look REALLY bad. Especially since they're not only spamming but throwing tantrums and cussing when you delete the thread? That's unprofessional and just plain immature.

Moving on, you also have the taking out features and making it so you have to pay for them? >_> Sounds like the classic pserver tactic of having people "donate" (aka pay) to be strong and if you don't "donate" you're screwed. They could have just done what kRO did and lowered the Valkyrie server rates to 0.5x while leaving the main servers at 1x but no, too greedy.

The bolded part is most of the reason I compared them to a bad pserver. They aren't nearly as bad as pRO, but still x_x

The Valkyrie server does not have lower rates. It has standard RO's 1/1/1 rates.
The other servers, the ones you pay for, hovewer, received a permanent +25% boost in exp/drops, so they're effectively 1.25/1.25/1.25 now.

On the Valkyrie server:
- You lose 3%, instead of 1%, XP when you die.
- Items sell for 75% of their base value.
- Teleport costs 100SP instead of 10.
- Kafra Warps are "Limited", whatever that means.
- Kafra storage costs 500z no matter the location.
- XP for repeatable XP quests is 75% of it's base value.
- Kafra Mall items are sold at "modified" prices. Means they're more expensive.
- There's no safe upgrade limit(It's 0, as Pandora said). Enriched Elunium's safety upgrade levels are just like normal safety levels in p2p RO.
- All "utility" items(Fly wings, butterfly wings, including silver/fire/iron arrows) are more expensive. Interesingly, Empty Bottles are now buyable(400z each). Some of them also don't drop at all.
- Creamy Card, Vitata Card, Deviling Card, GTB Card don't drop at all. Ghostring Card can't be obtained from Old Card Album.

s***, guess what? I actually like many of these changes.

Oh, and why iRO finally decided on opening a f2p server? In an interview with one of the Gravity employees it turned out that the free kRO server generated in five months more revenue that pay-for-play servers did in the last two years.

Actually from what I hard the premium server are the same, they only call it 1.25x now, and call valk 1x, but really valk is technically 0.8x, unless I've been misinformed and they raised the premium ones.

"Ghostring Card can't be obtained from Old Card Album." I like this change, and that's about it, most of the rest is a gimmick to make you buy stuff.

Otherwise, it seems I was wrong about the private server attitude I was ranting about before. Although, sadly, I still see it being a bot haven :/ Oh well.

Unless actions were made, even if you make 100K posts here, the bots will never be eradicated.

I, for one, want a bot-free Valkyrie.

Like ScytheRO, kahit private server, I see notices saying "blah blah was banned for botting" and they even use anti-bot checks like putting some sort of CAPTCHA (a simple code which would strain the automated log-ins from the manual ones)

I mean look... ScytheRO is free to play but heck, they bot check all the time. People pay, through ROK points or game time, in Valkyrie but there's no or minimal action being done against the botters. What's up with that?

I'll sign this and hopefully, the bots would go away.

Well I actually feel like giving it a go. I played on 1x before so it's no big deal and I like how they made the game "harder". As for Kafra Shop giving other players unfair advantage, I'm not a competitive guy anyway, so pox on that.

Plus, the thought that other people are paying money so I can play for free is amusing me greatly.

There's nothing on that 3 pages thread linking kRO Baphomet to botting activities in an epic proportions. I am not saying botting could not exist on kRO Baphomet (frankly I don't know), but given that Anti Static has claimed that the newly setup kRO Baphomet has already exceed profits of the entire combined kRO servers in the past two years - surely that points to the fact that kRO Baphomet have more than just bots on their server.

As for pRO...err thats a totally different fairy tale. pRO is reknown for its notorious botting activities. I remember the first time I heard about pRO's dilema, a pRO player was asking for some advice on a Wiz Built. So, we recommended get your INT up first, then slowly get your DEX up to cast faster -especially for high level spells which generally have a greater cast time. His response. No no... you cannot do that on pRO. If I do not cast fast, the bots will kill/kill steal all the monsters. We were astounded by this reply but it was quite funny as well. We had no idea an official server could be plagued with so many problems - botting, duplication bugs, etc..
