Hasn't even opened, and:

http://www.register.intense-ro.net/?module=download

What's with people stealing from IntenseRO? Really. It's like how people used to steal from Essence all the time.

The site's pretty, yes, but you're petty for stealing buttons from it - even if that "Register" button comes from their older template!

Don't mean to spoil the fun before opening, but site theft, even if it's a couple buttons, is not cool guys >: gosh, and after that NoNameRO crap, too. It's getting old.

P.S. You can say they're "temporary", but even if it's "temporary", it's questionable behaviour on your part. Makes everyone wonder what else you're going to pull, if you're capable of doing that on "temporary" bases.

Mmh the good thing about these copycat servers is that they never really last for more than 1-2 months.

There's actually a pack floating around on the internet, can't remember where I found it, 4shared maybe? Even just doing a google images search you'll be able to find lots of other versions of that button.

It is a place holder though, until we get custom ones done. Don't even have a download link up yet. :P

"Lots of other versions of that button" coming from other RO sites who stole it xD

Shouldn't rely on packs anyway. Makes you look bad >: Easy to whip something up in PS, look:

There ya go :O simple. Took me 10min to whip that up, and though it's not epic, it's better than theft (or being accused of theft)

Yeah it's sad to see that there are places that not only claim content as their own but then publicly distribute it. If I do find the site again, I'll post it up as I got lots of web resources from it. x.x

Thanks a lot Yusifer :D Looks great!

You have to understand that most people can't quite grasp these copyright concepts so easily.

Imagine you need an image for something (be it a presentation or your site), and you just do a google search for the image you want, and pick whichever you think works best for your site.

Okay, how can you explain in plain terms that doing that is just wrong? Imagine people have no problems adding credits saying where the images came from, so they aren't claiming to be the authors. It is still wrong. It is a bit difficult to get people to understand why. After all, it is just a digital file which takes no effort to duplicate, and it's visual eye-candy, it is meant to be seen! Most people can't see things from the eyes of the artist/person who actually designed the image specially for their site.

Not saying people should just be let off the leash, though. It's just that the more time passes, the more I realize that trying to enforce copyrights in an interconnected world is kind of an uphill, losing battle.

PS: I remember when this kind of topic was the heart of discussions in RMS xD'

Yeah, I agree. If it's not on purpose, all right, but I hate people who rip an entire site. In this case, it was just a few buttons that someone happened to .RAR together, and someone stumbled upon.

Things like NoNameRO get to me, though >:

By the way, you said it is easy to whip up something simply in Photoshop. Sadly, I don't agree. Not everybody has some drawing/design/painting background.

If anything, if everybody tried to whip something up in their (I must add, pirately acquired) copy of Photoshop, we'd end up with the image equivalent of the days of geocities, with blinking text and atrocious colour combinations. Not to mention they would also use copyrighted images as base xD;

PS: Can you claim copyright for the monkey you used in your example? Or know it had a "free right to reuse" copyright? I am not sure changing "who" you are taking the image from is really an improvement xD'

Well, as you can assume, most servers find renders online, and it's fine. That's where the monkey came from :]

However, you still have to do the rest yourself - gradients, size, font, stroke, and other effects - making the monkey+result a collaboration of your efforts, and not just a copy/paste from someone else's efforts on their website.

If you get down to s***, all servers are at fault for that, but you can't really expect everyone to be masters of drawing. You can expect them to be able to read, make a few layers, and stick an image on top of another one, for example. Then at least you're not hurting anyone's feelings / wallet by copy/pasting something that was hard work and potentially cost monies :<

As for copyright, though I'm sure this is a rhetorical question, obviously not, which is why one can't. As well, can't really complain if someone steals it, but it's still better than ripping the entire thing from someone else rather than tossing someting together using Google or common renders.
