Stealing designs/layouts

Well, this is an awesome case of pot calling the kettle black as Peach has run around spreading trash about my server. I decided to research her current server which at that point I immediately noticed the website design. It's funny because Lumina has had this website for the longest time and I don't see any credits to anyone besides Peach (who I know didn't make it).

But actually, it wouldn't make a difference until you view source of the website where the HTML code is exactly the same except Peach cleaned it up a bit. I guess if you're going to steal HTML code, you best clean it up and call it your own.

It's worse when you don't give credits to something in the footer.

Of course, if Adhelle confirms she/whomever created that website gave them permission to use it... then I'd be satisfied. I know that isn't the case as it also mimics a lot of features Divinity has (even old forum layout) as it was opened after Divinity closed the first time to get the community together and make a server like Divinity once was. However, when I re-opened May 19 everyone mostly came back.

www.lumina-ro.com - Has used the same site forever.

Just to add:

Isn't this how most Flux websites look alike anyways?
I see many websites very similar to others..
Using this sort of header and navigation and stuff.

edit: I just saw the sources.. thats a definite steal.

Similarity is one thing, not the exact HTML code and CSS. Unless of course, this is a free design or layout somewhere around the interwebz.

The coding remains intact..
I wonder how they even accomplished a steal like this.. Unless LuminaRO had their whole flux design under a zip file for them to download.

Easy, yo. Right click -> View source. HTML and CSS can be stolen from any modern browser, lol.

Oh haha.. I'm not that experienced with HTML & CSS but I thought they needed more than that..
But wow, I didn't realize all that could be seen with right click source.

To be honest, people should not be reporting about layouts being stolen when it doesn't involve their own server. It should be the owner of that server who should be making this thread, not you. Why? Like you said, there's an off chance that the owner of LuminaRO has gotten their template from somewhere else or the website was made by the same person who made equityro. Unless the owner has a problem with it, there's nothing wrong with it (because some people take pride that others are trying to use their layouts for their server).

On top of that... the two sites don't look really close to each other. Things were moved around and images are definitely different. Also, just looking at the source code, I can tell that LuminaRO got their codes from a template. So really, there's not much to say for anyone here.

Wow you should have ALOT of time to research those instead of teaching yourself how to not be a LIAR cookie...
And if you don't know anything about Peach's server, you should not talk. (or probably if you want you should just....yeah,, research more about it, as in talk with peach in person. BEFORE you posted here. Because that obviously indicate that you're being a butthurt that lots of your ex-GM "trashtalk" about your server (which 90% of it is true). lol)

This site looks a lot like LuminaRO too http://www.midgardportal.com/ but this is not included in the OPs list because clearly this thread was made by an angry admin trying to "degrade" another server and nothing more. Seems to be a lot of e-drama with this guy.

Images, layouts, features, NPCs, loading screens, etc are all often found on other servers as well. I've yet to see an entirely original server that isn't using something that is found on another server somewhere else since there's loads of servers out there. I agree with Poki. Luminas site looks like a basic three column template copied from somewhere else and that topbar is found on a billion other server's sites.

What's your point? Everybody researches my past and spreads it in every thread related to me. You're the pot calling the kettle black. You've done a little bit of that, as well. Get over it, it's the internet and that's information at my finger-tips. It wasn't really that long of "researching" if you consider: noticing it, right click -> view source, EPIC LULZ and post on RMS. I was just trying to make it sound like an adventure through the wardrobe of Narnia.

I did not give any permissions to this person and I dont know peach. Some of the stuff posted are just basic flux code. Also, my design was a remake I made over a jigs design I bought like years ago. So some stuff could be common if he previously had his site made by jigs and then remade it. BUT... I don't think jigs reuses the same code exactly over YEARS and some other stuff are like wtf... this dude just got my html and css and changed the images? You know, I'm sure jigs code does not have main-container AND main-container2. Specially because it is stupid. I used to suck on css back then and somehow I needed to do that to fix some positions. Never changed it later because it just works.
I utterly dislike SkinnyBoy but I think the content of his first post is a valid report. =x

Definitely a replica. So, adhelle herself confirms. And yes, it is a valid report. lol. I knew that adhelle didn't give Peach permission, I had a feeling it was a stolen site.

To be fair, even if this post was made to put Cookie in a more positive light (after the other topic) by degrading another server in contrast, his report does have validity. Stealing CSS is not any less wrong simply due to who reported it.

Without reservation, I do admit to using the source code on your site to create a basic template for our own at EquityRO. I sincerely apologize. If it would be of any comfort for you to know, we are currently in development of a new main site, and it will be published within the next week. For the time being, I am currently not using your layout, but instead, a simple 3 column css layout (CSS and HTML are different than before). If this change has not solved the problem for the time being, please let me know.

Again, I apologize. We made a mistake, and we seek to correct it.
