Server Advertising in general

Be it character naming or yelling in Prontera -
Sorry, but it doesn't prove anything, even with a screenshot. You can never be sure that whoever did this was even remotely connected to the server being advertised.

Example. Let's say Pandora changes her avatar. And let's say I get mad about it because I like her avatar. So what do I do? I go to LegacyRO, name my character "JOIN-HE-RO-FGT" and spam ads in Prontera giving her(server) a bad name.
Another example. Let's say I am bored. So I hop on whateverRO and spam ads for whatever2RO and then read all the drama on the forums, the whatever2RO saying they don't know anything, whateverRO saying "f u cracka", etc.

I am not saying that some of the cases aren't genuine advertising - I think we all know that current trends in Internet advertising rely on pissing off the customers with endless spamming, don't ask me why - but it might as well be someone trying to discredit another server, or just a troll.

True, but posting here gives the server a chance to explain themselves, so they can come in and say it wasn't them if that's the case.

If anyone from my server went on to advertise on other I'd ask the other server for the IP and you could be sure they'd get punishment over it. I'd also go apologize to that other server immediately even if it's not personally my fault if it's one of my players I would consider it my responsibility.

Most servers I've seen advertising on others are new servers and on many occasion it proved to be the staff themselves or their friends, of course that doesn't mean that it's always the case.

Not sure what you're suggesting exactly? What would you suggest be the reaction of a server when they get spammed either in game of forums with advertisement from another server?
