Well I can either play as a guy and have my character look bloody stupid, or play as a girl and feel bloody stupid.
It's a lose-lose situation.
Male playing female has become quite "normal" nowadays, it's no longer considered an oddity, with internet you can change gender as you see fit and it's not like people can prove it. So I've come to consider anyone as "what their char are", regardless of what they are really in real life, even if I know to be sure. One of my friend I call she in game, but he's really a guy.
I've known only 1 girl who was serious about playing male character, the other real girls usually play girls. Personally I cross-gender for bard, and I have a male priest because my ex used to play the game and left me his character, the rest of my chars are female.
i am a girl and i use male sprite since 2002 lol. my first RO account was using girl char, that's about it.
always like the male sprite better, it's nice the hair style is nice. All the girl hair style are not my taste soo... and girl char sprite isn't as good as male char sprite. that's my opinion.

pretend as a girl and started entertain a real guy player whose wealthy in game just to asked him to buy this and that for her :-[ after she gets all she wanted from the guy,ofcourse shes gonna dump thepoor sucker and find another victim of her so sick SCAM...its ashame but i knew a lot of people like that and got away with it... :'(

Of course crossdresser scammer are bad.. but silly boys who fall for it are equally to blame, come on guys, you go all gooey just because someone might have boobs in real life?
I think everyone should work for their level and equips, sure it's fine to help a friend, but if you spoonfeed a "girl" by giving her tonz of stuff and she turns out to be a lazy guy cheating you, well that's your damn fault lol Girls are perfectly capable of playing this game, and real girls will usually prefer that you play the game with them rather than play for them.

Entirely True, I've seen real girl who take advantage of being a girl because guys go all soft and mushy and want to shower them with gifts. Guess it brings out the "knight in shining armor" in them... I still maintain that both are to blame, the abused and the abuser.

- cause female novies look sorta dumb when they used play dead (just wat i think some think they look cuter but i don't)

I for one play both male and female, i play a male SinX always, and normally have my Whitesmith, Creator, and Professor on a female account. Sometimes I'll just use all female account's, because if I'm gonna spend hours a day looking at the damn game, I might as well get a kick out of retarded 13 year olds and pevert's(or people who can't get laid IRL O_o) hitting on me, only to get rejected lol.....
As for guy's pretending to be girl's, or girl's who scam, I normally get to know them enough before marrying and loaning my stuff O_o. That way if they screw me over I can get old RO friend's to do "stuff" to the person's account :)~

Well, I usually always make male characters just because in the sense that it's actually me in the game. As for making female characters, sometimes you just want to see a female kill things. Like a lot of times, in movies and stuff the girls are always helpless and stuff. So seeing a badass girl is kind of cool for a change.
Besides, is it so wrong for wanting to play as a female character because you'd rather look at a girl instead of a guy all the time?
Plus, a girl with a sword/guns is hawt. Take away from the traditional female magic user.

yeah, I had 1 female account at the beginning and switched to being a male until I started playing with my friends recently and returned to being a female.
I like the vast majority of the male sprites better, the exceptions being hunter, sniper, soul linker, and priest (but male hp is waaayyy better so I deal with it xP)
Yeah, it's not just the guys who like looking at the opposite gender's sprite. If I'm hacking at something for hours at end, might as well be a sexeh whitesmith (<3 <3 <3) I'm watching, not some chick's boobs what jiggle (slightly awkward xP)

Yeah, imagine this, I made an SL on a 3x server - that's pretty damn agonizing since you have almost no attack power as TK whasteover - and after I cast a few Estins I simply deleted him. That's the dumbest attack animation, ever.

I play both... depends on the class. Imo, some male classes look absolutely terrible while the same could be said for certain female ones. If that doesn't matter to me, I usually choose male though.

yeah, I don't know what Gravity was thinking when they made the linker sprites. Although I can deal with the female, she's definitely not one of the better looking classes in the game.

Male, clowns are better than dancers, by far. And also have clothes.
If I'm leading a guild or I'm with my friends, I play a fem high wizard. But if I'm on my own or not leading, I tend to go with male HP, sinx or lk.
Some ro players think that girls cant lead, and so if I do make a guild, people tend to join more.
But if I'm starting alone on a new server, I go male so I wont be bothered. There are still boys who think that all in game girls are real...especially in wow.

You can't say that Lord Knight hitting is better than LK Girl hitting. Also, the only female class that has a good hitting animation is sniper and assassin.
To me, it depends strictly on the class which is better. xD However, I've almost always played a male. Apparently, as a female, my awesomeness attracts too much attention. >>;

I know plenty of other people (confirmed girls) who masquarade as males due to the fact that "there are no girls on the internet" and if they are real girls playing fem characters, they're automatically beggars, vixens or fat and ugly irl. Or sleeping with the GM.
In video games, guys are the only one who play it. In pvp, there were times when I dominated the room, but since i did it on a fem sinx, people automatically assumed I was either a real girl sleeping with the admin to get my equips, or I was a guy pretending to be a girl to give them a better rep.
You'd be surprised how many "guys" are really girls. It depends on whatever a person feels comfortable with.
Cross genders ftw. Dual personalities are nice too, especially when GMing.
Classes I play:
HP = Male
SinX = Female
Clown = Male
LK = Male
Sniper = Male
I guess the only class I play female is SinX cause they are slutty...

LK attack animation is awesome(same as Knight really), it's the walking that's the problem.
And good hitting animation doesn't count when you're a caster :P

I know plenty of other people (confirmed girls) who masquarade as males due to the fact that "there are no girls on the internet" and if they are real girls playing fem characters, they're automatically beggars, vixens or fat and ugly irl. Or sleeping with the GM.
In video games, guys are the only one who play it. In pvp, there were times when I dominated the room, but since i did it on a fem sinx, people automatically assumed I was either a real girl sleeping with the admin to get my equips, or I was a guy pretending to be a girl to give them a better rep.
You'd be surprised how many "guys" are really girls. It depends on whatever a person feels comfortable with.
Cross genders ftw. Dual personalities are nice too, especially when GMing.

Either way, guy playing female sprite... They are easily spotted usually... They have the "lazy typing" style, example: "plz, plox, thx, k, u, 2, 4" "hi how r u 2day ? plz giv zeny" Generally they do it for free items... or to put on a ruse to date 'other people' get them to trust them, then scam them/steal their accounts, or in some cases sexual purposes.
Battle.net was filled with people that the community came to know as "Shims" ( she + him ) they weren't transsexual they just abused the female status and they generally used multiple accounts... which made them easy to prove they were someone else. Because when you squelch ( ignore ) an account, a red X shows up on that person's name and ANY other account that that person's IP is running.
Most shims are explicitly sexual, they do not hide it and generally are perverted.. have little morals... and are disgusting really :|
Agreed....Thats meesed up. That does happen and its really pathetic that they do that stuff. But i don't think there are that many "shims' out there in RO....i found that the reason many guys play female characters was while they're playing they'd rather be looking at female sprites for those hours of grind lol....kinda wierd yes but it doesn't mean they are bad ppl or "shims"

When you're not grinding, that's the problem, you're walking though Pront and think "God I look so dumb".
