Im wondering what is better to have a higher rate or a lower rate server.

From what I have noticed:

If you have a LR server, WoE and PVP lovers will most likely ignore your server, but players that love grinding/leveling or anything a low rate can offer, they will stay surely for a long time(grind to 99 ftw)

If you have a HR server, WoE/PVP players will come, but they may not last. Or they simply get bored and wanted to play a different HR.

I personally love a HR server with multiple quests though. Tired of PVP? Do quests. It's like leveling too.

for me High Rate is the best, but you need to give them reasons why stay on that server, for example a quest item that need alot of time and effort.

I like the lower rate high rate server, 10k+ is just too easy to do anything.

RuneSeki

I prefer Low Rate servers. But when the servers have even MORE customized features, I'll stay even longer.

I usually prefer HR servers (1k~5k) with low item rates. I hate lots of grinding, but I don't really mind taking the time to farm items.

I do play the occasional LR/MR, if they have features that stand out to me. Although most of the time I end up getting bored if I'm playing them by myself. xD

in VintageRO we have high rates like instant level but you need to spend time and effort to hunt boss cards or quest items, some of my players likes to pvp than grinding for level

See, i love pvp/woe i find it more accomplishing when i played on a server with ~3k rates, because you actually can say you worked for the stuff you got.

Tessai

I was born and raised on high rate servers and there I shall remain. The only way I will convert is if I have people to play with and talk to when I'm grinding(I keep to myself a lot, so I tend not to have a crap ton of friends xD)

High Rates FTW!!

if you want people to stay on ur server, put many events(automated or not), and put many quests. Also "UNIQUE" features in ur server, like map, items, etc.

Lower rates. Honestly, going to level 99 in 2 seconds just isn't my thing. If you want that, just configure your system so that you start at 99 and don't have to pretend anything. Also, HR servers tend to attract 'power-play' people who are mainly into PvP and WoE and who love stupidly strong custom items.

Sure, leveling on a 10x/10x/10x server takes a while. That's why you have friends to do it with. I always play RO with my brother and/or a friend.

Unless you mean these separated as in 2 types of high-rate servers, you're quite wrong.

Obviously, I was talking about the players. Next time read better.

Obviously, you did not get what I meant.

Not every high-rate player loves stupidly strong custom items, nor does every high-rate player love WoE.

Even high-rate servers can have no customs at all. Usually the most popular HR servers are usually like this:

99/70 No custom items.
255/120 with +200 all stats for customs

You are basicly talking as if these 2 types of servers have the same playerbase.

I am not talking like that, so I don't get what you're tying to prove here. I said that HR servers attract a kind of player that I dislike, nothing about servers themselves.
