MvP tanking gear

Havn't played RO much in awhile, what's best gear to tank MvP's with a High Priest? I'm mostly after tanking things like Atroce, Kiel and other "mid tier" mvp's. Not sure what wins out of hard defense/resistances and HP, mostly was wondering is valk set good or should I go for a +3dex armor

I can get pretty much anything with the exception of satan morroc gears, nidhoggrs and variant shoes. 99/70 7/7/5 server. Have an alice card, can get anything that isn't a rare high tier mvp drop or mvp/boss card. I'd go for +6/7 most gears with the exception of a stat enchanted armor.

Safety wall tanking but I want to be able to survive in the gaps it's down and hopefully pull them across maps.

I am using this one and I am very satisfied with it, it can be used to tank low-mid tier mvp but not high ones. But I can pull them without being scared that it will one-shot me. (Rates 2/2/2)

TopHead: +8 Magni's Cap/Kawaii Ribbon (- for Demons)
MidHead: Opera Masque/Observer
LowHead: Opera Masque/Sweet Candy (1def)/Evolved Pipe(1vit)
Armor: +6 Odin's Blessing[Elemental Card/Peco Peco]/+4 Holy Robe[Bathory] (- for demons)
Weapon: Long Mace
Shield: +8 Stone Buckler[Alice]/+7 Stone Buckler[Khalitzburg] (-for Demons)
Garment: +5 Diabolus Manteau[Raydric]
Shoos: +7 Diabolus Boots[Green Ferus]
Accessory: 2x Safety Ring/2x Eye of Dullahan (-for Demons)

Thats should give you about 60def. Its for tanking/pulling. For support I am usually using full Long Range reduction. Hope it helps you

what nekac said but use the tidal-wools combo, +7 them (or +9 firelock of course ) and GF card as well as ray/noxious (only if stacking ranged reducts)

headgear-wise magni's are good, but if you got customs which are way better, then you might wanna look into that. Plus ranged-reducing headgears are also widely available and may be more beneficial than the OB-magni-SB combo IF going against specific mvps/attacks.

standard bathory in OB should work for most bosses. For several specific attacks that are notoriously deadly, you might wanna slot a GR card...

long mace or +vit staffs or divine cross + spiritual ring is also good against specific mvps ;

Armor is what you're gonna be switching around most. Most MvPs have one powerful attack, like Drake's waterball, LoD's Hell Judgement and such...be prepared for that. Bathory is very useful gnenral purpose element, unless facing MvPs with holy attack. I would recommend also Angeling, but doubt that's available for you.

Spiral Pierce is also one of MvPs' often used skills. So pack a ranged reductions too, like long mace, and noxious (or raydric, it's neutral).

7/7/5, im not a god so I'd slot it with firelock for use on other chars/sell one day :3 Also rachel sanc aint open, which means no abbey for another week or 2, and even then I'll have to hunt all my own as anyone selling will overcharge like hell for the first week or 2 :x(Got time/gear to hunt, but not extreme amounts)

Anyway, this is mostly for solo/duo tanking. I forgot all about ranged redux(using staff of recov :x)

My goal is to do MvP's with as little people as possible, and then after that speed.

I can dual client solo valk(sniper auto attack, priest SW spam) but even in 100% dps build(BSB, the +20 crit sandwhich and all') it takes ages.

I figured 2 ways I could speed it up-
1:pdodge, sacrafice some dex for pdodge so that SW lasts longer giving me time to alt tab and DS, or lex/magnus(Say dropping zeroms for yoyo's)
2:CD redux, expert ring+sprint set? allowing me to buff/lex in between SW's more

Anyone tried either of these? Any idea's on what would work best?

Also for kiel, alice card or ogretooth(due to the mobs and alice taking 40% more from them) / is it possible to gear switch if he casts spiral pierce or is it insta/near insta cast?(havn't done kiel for ages)

Depending on drop rates and server size, making +9 shoes can be easier than finding a green ferus card.

1. i figured +10% SP is worth more to priests (especially low-int high vit high dex HP builds that quite a number of people like) is worth more than +1 vit

2. if you have access to a +9 tidals, it would still be better with a firelock than a GF because you can still use it on other chars without having to make a whole other pair of +9 tidals...


as for the valk thing: dunno bout pdodge, and might be irrelevant with high speed access, but the way i do valk with my friends, the HP should not care about SW longevity and just spam SWs... blue gems are cheap anyway... ;

as for killing valk quicker: DS laaar.... if your server allows dual-clienting, then it might as well allow botting... in which case you could easily tell the bot to DS and pot... or asura...

Idea was I was dual clienting, on a server with bot/WPE protection, and had to maintain SW and DS

Worked out fine with pdodge.
