Quote from: Playtester on Aug 01, 2021, 09:02 AMActually I always thought the idea to remove teleport from the game was kinda interesting. In fact all my time I played RO I always build up parties with a "teleportation not allowed except in emergency cases when the party got wiped and you are the last one left" rule. The reason for me behind that is that it feels a lot more like an adventure if you start venturing with your party from a town all the way to the target location and fight all the monsters you encounter on the way, sit down to rest SP, roleplay and have fun. It's a much more enjoyable way to play the game over just teleporting to one map and then just grind on it forever. At least for me.
Quote from: Sakaretsu on Aug 01, 2021, 07:26 PMvery glad to have this authentic ragnarok experience serverYou've never actually played Ragnarok Online before. That's about to change.
Quote from: Ara on Aug 01, 2021, 11:40 PMI've been curious for a while now, what does it mean to not be rAthena/Hercules based btw? Like I've been under the impression that those were like kinda huge community projects on emulating the Ragnarok... backend stuff? What does it mean to not have to use an emulator? Or is his server like running his own emulator that he made himself (whatever Odin is?), which apparently doesn't have bugs that the well-known emulators do or something? Also, why would this be "more expensive" to run?Not really knowledgeable about how the actually server stuff works, thanks if anyone can help me understand these!
Quote from: GMSeiren-tRO on Aug 01, 2021, 11:52 PMLooks like they are just running AEGIS, which is the official (stolen/leaked) server software that the official servers run. It's available to download for anyone, but it is not very versatile to work with. It generally has higher hardware requirements because it's a terribly inefficient piece of software that's badly coded. Emulators like rAthena and Hercules try to emulate AEGIS as closely as possible. They have improved over the years but there are still some bugs here and there (ironically, many introduced by the emulator dev teams themselves) and game behaviour that's not entirely like officials.Their claims in that topic about their server setup are hilarious though.
