Hello, this is my first post but I've been a lurker for a while now.

I actually came from Feel RO to Essence RO.  My first impression of Essence RO was that it had what I was looking for, that Feel RO lacks sorely - official headgears obtainable through quests.  I was never a fan of wings and I think all but the Bee Wings look gaudy.  The Bee Wings are simply tolerable for me because they're smaller and much more discrete.  The custom quests are definitely a big plus for me, even if they aren't all interesting.  However, there is one custom quest that has given me much trouble for over a week, and it is the biggest thing right now preventing me from rating it higher, because it affects my other impression of an important part of a server.

The quest is the Fairy Wings quest.  For those that don't know, the objective is to "find" fairies scattered about and do their tasks for them.  However the fairies are invisible.  This is my biggest gripe with this quest and in my humble opinion, single handedly ruins it.  It is simply not fun having to hover over every tile hoping you find one.  I am personally stuck on the 6th fairy and frankly I've had enough.

Now why is this quest such a big downer for me?  Because I turned to the community for even just a small pointer, and was turned away cold.  All but 2 times that I asked someone for help that I came across, they would flat out fly wing away.  I would walk up to them and go "Excuse me, may I ask you a question?" and poof they're gone. The 2 times people didn't teleport away I was just ignored.  You can't ask on the forums because they won't allow it.  The irony is that this quest itself offers no information in game anyways.  The fairies do not guide you to the next location.  This quest, with a bit more work, could have turned into a fun game of "Hot or Cold" if they had just added guide points within the maps.  Instead, it is simply playing Where's Waldo with a blindfold on.

I have met some nice people, 1 person in particular, but the rest of the people came off as very anti-social and stand-offish.  I am but a small part of the community but this is just my experience.  I am online very often, so I have been around.

Pros:

Lots of headgears, both official and custom
Decent amount of custom quests
Prices are decent.  Valkyrie Shields are less than 5m on average for example.
Nice custom Kafra NPC.  Even randomly hands you a gift sometimes.
Latest cards all in.
Custom pets
eRO quest items are labelled as such in the item info.

Cons:

Community not always very helpful or approachable.
Some quests require drops from MVPs.  These should be stated ahead of time so a player doesn't spend their time just to hit a dead end.
No Banker NPC for self zenny transfer in-game.
Fairy Wings quest.  Seriously a terrible, terrible quest if you can even call it that.

Neutral:

PvP enabled on MVP maps.  People usually just leave you alone however.
Clean, simple load screens.

Rating:  6/10

Thank you for the decent review.  The current economy is stable right now due to the not too long ago item/zeny wipe that occurred on the server and also due to the fact that only Low Tier MVPs have been re-enabled and the rest are currently in the works of being changed and implemented.  So not every MVP item for quests is available unless you farm Old Red Boxes really hard and get lucky with some of the items (i.e. Will of Red Darkness)

I am really sorry about the community.  I personally have been having a few gripes with some Ksing snipers and gunslingers but I don't really take it that badly.  The forums do however stress that they do not want to reveal custom quest information on them as it would spoil the fun of the quests.   I can however help you with your Fairy wing problem.  If you pm me in the forums  (Melchior)  I will send you all the info you need to finish the quest.

Hello, thanks for reading!  Boy, I wish I bumped into you sooner.  You have no idea how much of a headache you are saving me with the quest.  Hours and hours of hovering over each tile, yet still somehow missing it...if I'm even on the right map!

It's OK about the community, it's not your fault.  People will just be people.  I'm OK with it for the most part.  I totally hear you about the KSing Snipers and it doesn't get to me too much either. The people in general are at least non offensive even if they may not be very talkative.  They're by no means terrible, and I'm surprised that on a PvP enabled map people have been quite respectful of personal space.  I still enjoy my time playing in spite of "the quest."
