Apologies if this has been posted before, but yet again we have a server that rewards its players for spamming advertisements on OTHER servers' forums.

I deleted one such advertisement minutes after it was posted, and decided to look into it a bit further when I discovered this lovely thread on their splendid "Referrals" forum.  Apparently they are awarded donator credit for doing so.

As this forum invites people to post about servers that have been using foul play, I figured this would be appropriate.

Pandora

That seems the appropriate place to post this.

How lame.. who in their right mind would try a server that advertises on other's people's ro server forum? I just don't get this.

Suggestion : next time take screenshot, cuz it seems they took down the page you are linking.

Mieu

Yeah, seems they took down their entire forum in fact xP

finnith

This is funny cause there's a guy trying to advertise Pre-RO on the Server Advertisement board.

Mieu

I did take a look, and I'll refer back to the first link I posted

http://gotragnarok.net/ragnarok/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?42037.last

Seventh post down, leads to a little private server called 'Got Ragnarok?'  I personally found and deleted the post as soon as I saw it on the forums.

Perhaps you should make it clearer to your players that advertising on other private servers is bad PR, and makes your server look unprofessional, and to keep it to general Ragnarok Server Advertisement forums instead.

aquameep

hey you know what? I don't really care if it looks professional or not. i don't really care bout your got ragnarok :> I only know, you've got spam :>

Mieu

If you don't care about looking professional, then I needn't say anything else, and will let the thread speak for itself.

Thought all the topics seem to be deleted or hidden, I can confirm what Mieu says cause I saw it there as well before it was removed.

why do you need to confirm when the owner has already said he doesn't care cause he did it?

Caprion

Does this qualify for removal of their entry, like the server that rewarded people for reviews, or is there no actual rule against being an immature server admin?  Maybe you should add a "professionalism" rating to each server, since an admin can be the friendliest, most helpful person, but still act like (or be) a 12-year-old... as we can see, here.

aquameep

i don't really care anymore.

sold pre-ro for 48,000USD.

$48,000?  Of course... that's totally plausable that someone would pay almost $50k for a server that they could set up themselves for free.

heh, if you don't believe, don't ;>

Caprion

Why should anyone believe you?  You've already proven untrustworthy in your server advertising practices, and you seem far from business-savvy enough to manage a transaction of that scale.

Not that it sounds true or anything, but even if it were, you seem proud of that? Making profit of people, you should be ashamed.

akihito

which rich fella will but the "dying" server for 48k ?
thats stupid lol

Caprion

A sale of that size, I think, Gravity may notice.  That's quite a profit you'd be making with their game... I almost hope he's telling the truth, just so he can be sued.

finnith

I don't think it's possible for any private server to be worth that much. Is the official RO even worth that much?!?!
S>Rock lol

dook

yes the official is worth more than that ><

only somebody incredibly stupid would pay that kind of money for free emulator

finnith

My question was stupid sorry. But still, what's the point of buying an emulator? It's like buying illegal games for the PC!

kopono

Isn't there a way that he can be sued due to the fact that he is earning money off of this?

The fact is that Gravity can sue you and win if you have a "Cash Shop", but not a donation shop. This guy sold his server for profit, so wouldn't he get into trouble?

I'm just wondering =|.

Mieu

I wouldn't believe a word of it, honestly.  Sounds like a load to me.

Duncan

Wow, selling servers for money? Now I've seen everything.

Rbread

Locked due to the plethora of pointless replies.
