This server watch is something that tells the number of servers and the % of which rates they are, I have been getting curious on the number of servers in the listing so i decided to make this, this will be updated every Saturday, of course results might be skewed since this is just RMS, but it still gets close

This Week's Differences:
LR: -5 Servers (Decrease of ~0.60% in position)
MR: +0 Servers (Increase of ~0.31% in position)
HR: +2 Servers (Increase of ~1.11% in position)
SHR: -6 Servers (Decrease of ~0.82% in position)
Hmm.
I'm slightly surprised at the number of MRs. Thought it would have been more.
Looks like we are all LR or HR elitists.
Edit; No chance of also counting the amount of reviews each section has, as an idea as to general population outlie?
Too many of everything, imo.
Looks like most private server owner prefer to host and administrate High Rate. Even though they are the most controversial.
Interesting, and what a huge number. Probably 90% of those have less than 50 players.

Sadly it's true. I checked out a lot of MRs a month or two ago, and the majority of them had around 20-30 players, if not less. Not sure about the HRs or LRs, but I would assume a lot of them also have under 50 players.

Does this include vendors?

Possibly not, though, aRO has about 20% of it's players vendors, if not, more
And I will add it to the nearest hundreth decimal, if Pow insists

For some of the servers I checked, yes it did. Some others had around 20-30 active players, not including vendors. Keep in mind this was only various MRs I checked, I have no clue how populated various LR & HR servers are.

Interesting.
I might go add up how many reviews each section has later.
It'll be interesting to see where the major percentage of reviews go.
My question is rather, how many of them are actually that different from each other?
Cause if there's really that many server and not all of them are unique/different, why are there "duplicate servers" existing then ._.;?
Because people like to make servers for t3h s*** and giggles.
No, not jk.
What server isn't made for such a reason? =P
The fact we can't charge gameply fees rules out most other reasons.
*goes back to adding reviews*
@Ayu: So they can prance around being an admin. XD
Edit:
So. I did counting. At the time, if I can count, there were 5502 reviews. The breakdown is like this:
LR: 1356. (~24.65%)
Only the first 75 had reviews. (~71.43%)
MR: 1081. (~19.65%)
Only the first 75 had reviews. (~79.79%)
HR: 1843. (~33.50%)
Only the first 178 had reviews. (~75.11%)
SHR: 1222. (~22.21%)
Only the first 76 had reviews. (~79.17%)

I think the ease of setting up a basic server is really hurting the community and resulting in a great number of poorly set up duplicates with nothing to offer but an underage GM that wanted to make a server of his own.
I do think that players who join such poor servers wouldn't exactly add quality to good servers, but a bigger population does improve a lot of aspects such as economy, finding parties and guild competition.

Agree, the most sad part, many of the servers were made by those who spam "HELP ME PLX I NID MAKE SERVER HELP!" in RMS

New results are in, looks like the number of LRs decreased by one, MRs stay the same, HRs got a surprising growth of +7 Servers and SHR just grew by four, looks like in some weeks or so SHRs will be more popular than LRs, if this pattern contiues of course...
Naruto and Sasuke must be happy.
I personally will be happy when people stop putting goddamn Naruto things everywhere.

Quite a scary thought that there's still a total of 6 new servers... honestly, is there even 60 new players to RO to technically fuel 10 players to each of these servers >_<; I am guessing not, so these 6 servers are just diminishing the amount of players per server on average...

This is why it is rare to see 1000+ pop server nowadays...

"If we start a server on our own we can also get donation money! It's a goldmine!"
or
"This server sucks. Let's make our own where we can do what we want!"
=.= Some people don't think about finding new servers, so they make their own. It's very stupid.
^Yeah, You end up 50 copy pasta servers that some guy made thinking that he will get money or just opened it b ecause him and his friends got banned/massively trolled on another server
Appauling. Sad to see people start servers and abandon it due to poor management and lack of knowledge. They shouldn't bother starting it in the first place really.
Yeah, I wish making servers was harder so there would be less servers ran by morons...
Posted on: Jun 16, 2009, 07:11 pm
Looks like the number of Pservers have fallen drastically, I would just wish if people stopped making summer-rain-like HRs
We should make a bar graph and see if there's a trend. ;3

Wouldn't a line-time-eske graph go better? No offense.
Esque. ;_;
Hmmm I like the bar better.

Differance too variable?
Hmm you're right. The Line Graph would be easier to see the differences...

Yeah, like X Represents Y, Z Represents W, I think it would be better with something like that...

Lines look all stupid because all the LR,MR,SHR server #s are really close to each other.
What it looks like with more data:

This is what it would look like if/when server numbers aren't so close to eachother.

It's easier to read than the rest, though, we need to wait until LRs, MRs and SHRs become more separate for it to become more readable...
Yup. :)

I really like the way this is turning out. However, wouldn't it be slightly easier & nicer to read if each server catagory was given a different colour, rather than just different shades of purple? Just a suggestion.
The different colors were really much easier to read.
