I was planning to join this server but found out today that it was closed down.

It's been closed.

Alternatively, you can join zigaro.org.  Rinny, the head GFx designer of Yggdrasil Online, has moved here with us!  Perhaps you'll like it as well =D

A little late, but eh.

Incase anyone was still wondering, the server could no longer be afforded. It may, and hopefully will be brought back in the future. Even so, it wouldn't be anytime soon.
