mvp cards encourages corruption

disclaimer- I am not mentioning any specific server, nor do I even play on one right now. I merely wish people to think about this problem as how it may apply to future servers.

1. extreme rarity creates an outlet to "legitimize" corruption. while giving out aesprikas or strange custom items to your friends/moneyfriends might tip off those viewing items worn, other gms, etc- these items already exist. and when bragging, showing off, and solo wiping guilds people can just claim to have gotten lucky.
2. extreme rarity also creates a greater outlet for punishment as well. given the extreme time investment required to aquire, one can claim hacks/dupes and ban people they don't like, along with other drama. this probably applies to any high upgrade investment, so the difficulting in getting +9 glorious weapons //firelock shoes etc. is an issue as well.
3. the extreme stats on mvp cards destabilizes the game. as certain people acquire these, other players/guilds unable to compete with the extreme advantage a few players have will leave the server or refuse to join it. this explains why everyone wants to join a "new" server, and how many servers have committed a slow suicide. servers that have given cards to joining guilds alienate individual players, who might've otherwise joined and formed a new guild in time.

the solution? drasticly reduce the power of most mvp cards, while drasticly increasing droprate/availability so that all players can have a reasonable expectation of obtaining them.
there are servers which have massively increased droprate, but when they do they generally fail to balance the power of mvp cards- or the balance of anything else for that matter(servers with absurdly high lvl caps).
many servers now disable mvp cards completely to address this issue, but doing so takes something away from the game.

This is from a WoE SE point of view:

+9 Glorious Weapons are only good on a few classes, Champion & Sniper (though if NDL is protected and/or banned for use it's not that much of a problem) ideally, SinX (which is a joke class in SE), and dare I say it, LK (lol...)
With an active BG there isn't a problem with these items to begin with but if BG isn't active you have two choices, remove KVM entirely, or lower the cost to obtain it.

Uh, most intelligent servers remove the only good MVP cards from WoE (i.e. FBH and GTB) and this doesn't take away anything from the game, this makes a fairer environment for newer guilds to join the server. FBH and GTB originally created with the fact that hundreds of players would be inside of a castle on official servers and their WoE's are nothing like private server WoE's (no it's not because of the fact that they have MVP cards). It's a balance issue in itself.
If a server owner wants to give an FBH card to a guild he/she favors and allow it's use in WoE is just asking for his/her server to die after all of the other guilds quit.
I don't know if by giving cards you mean standard WoE cards in a guild package like Thara, Marc etc. but if you do mean that, individual players can farm their own basic equipment over time and attempt to join an existing guild. 9 times out of 10 these players don't know a thing about WoE or it's meta regardless.

Your solution is doing nothing but changing the game entirely, and I'm sure I don't need to tell you that the WoE guild player base of Ragnarok is not growing and is not willing to make such a drastic change in gameplay.

its not growing because changes are not made
insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result

No, it's not growing because it's an old game, it's player base in general isn't going to grow at all with other MMOs being released like Guild Wars 2.

Judgement

Also because the majority of the community (servers/players/GMs) is so messed up and makes it hard for this game to look appealing to people with some experience in other MMO's.

@topic - TalonRO did and didn't do something like that.  They changed the effects of some of the MVP cards, and made a 2nd type of WoE that disables the MVP cards (along with other custom cards).  But yeah since it's one of those servers with a "cash shop" you can buy MVP cards.

It's an old game. People want new things. That simple. Personally I stay away from servers where MVP cards have been modified even in the slightest way - just because I don't like the idea of modifying them. I don't care if they're disabled in WoE/BG, because I don't participate in those events on any server.

Aw... and here there is a post with which I can fully agree. My motto for modifying items is "assume nothing is too rare to justify it being very powerful."

The end result? A server with no players because nobody wants to join a "too different" place xD'

I suspect the solution is to move to greener pastures.... Guild Wars 2 looks so tempting as of late <_<'

Regardless, I agree with the opening post, 100%.
