I only have two opinions on why some GM's are hated.

1. The GM's attitude.

2. The type of player.

I think some people purposely just look for things they can pick at, simply because they have low self esteem and need to insult other people to make them selves feel good.Its pretty sick if you ask me, some people in this world are so messed up it really bugs me.

Somehow I was incredibly retarded and didn't realize I could do that until after I posted... and it was too late, for the internet already knew I was a lazy bish. XD

Obligatory ontopic thing: I think people will hate GMs just because they can do things regular players can't. Suspicion, jealousy, boredom, whatever. Yup.

Some RO players are paranoid.  It takes only one little thing, such as a GM laughing and joking with a fried, to cause these people to take out their branding stick, and put a big ol' "CORRUPT" on left butt cheek of the GM. 

Then others have had bad experience in the past, or seem to have a problem with others having authority.

And some people hate GM's because they do their jobs.  They do an event, and don't listen to the whiners and beggers asking for a different one.  They jail or mute some one for cursing or spamming.  Now I don't mean to sound racist or stereotypical, this is just how things work around here I live.  They players are like those wanna-be-gangster Native American that seem to infest my city nowadays.  It only takes one pissed off Native to rile up 10 other Natives to jump you on the street.

Example:  Bob is muted and jailed by the GM, Bill, for spamming the F word in main chat.  Bob just happens to be PvPing(or WOEing, or farming/MvPing, or maybe just talking) when Bill gets on to enact punishment.  Maybe Bob was fighting a guild member of Bill's legit at the time...  Or maybe he's breaking and emperium, whatever the case, he assumes Bill purposely banned him for the sole reason to mess him up in pvp or woe or whatever.  Now Bob gets really pist, starts telling everyone about how Bill used his GM character to jail Bob while Bob was breaking an emperium.  but he makes the story pretty.  He makes it sound like he was doing something he spammed for a good reason.  This gets eveyone on his side.

And thus the hatred for Bill the GM grows.
Also some people are just stupid and hate GM's for no particular reason.

I totally agree with you mickie. I've seen it happen nearly the same way on a few servers.

It just makes me sad that nobody seems to realize that GMs selected from the population are selected (most likely) because of their dedication to the server and the amount of time they can spend aiding players. If they're playing often enough for an admin to think them a reliable GM, then wouldn't it just kind of make sense that they'll eventually be outfitted with nice gears? It's just as true for other players - if someone spends 5-10 hours a day on their character, they're not going to be running around in empty slotted sandals and a cotton shirt. It's not corruption, it's effort.
