I have not seen you anywhere in my server, the server has been up for a full 3 months with 0 unexpected downtime. The only times the server is offline is when we announce it in-game for an UPDATE.

"Lost after log out"? Maybe you didn't even try the server.

I just did a query on mySQL in my PHPMyAdmin, all account #'s are accounted for and so are the character #'s.

We pride in our friendly community, but we also pride in our ability to provide our players with a superb gaming experience.

his is why server admins and GM's need to Have secure user names and passwords. max lenght possible with  every character allowed needs to be thought of as being used.

IE, fdta6  isn't as secure as Zs8@&g9X.

Depending on what you allow and any source edits you have done. Remember this. You also need to remember that Invisions always had and always will have sql Injection exploits, they won't aknowledge them. So Keep those databases seperate under different user accounts, or they can gain access to your server that way.

er... the game isnt hosted on the forums...

As far as i know he uses a dedicated server for SurgeRO and a seperate webserver for his webhosting.

Also you gotta remember, the problem aint exactly username/password.... theirs too many variables to get it easy, just cos its shorter. And if you honestly think thats how a server gets hacked, you should understand that some needs to acquire a username first, then you can bash passwords if it doesnt kick you while trying and you can't exactly bash a username.

From the look of it they have ceres integrated into their site so if the site got hacked and no md5 hash or any custom protection your screwed.

Actually, No.

We have seperated the Webhosting and the Server Hosting into 2 servers. The mySQL w/ the MD5 Encrypted Passwords are located in the Server Side AND the Server Side rejects all IPs from accessing mySQL, EXCEPT the Webhosting Dedicated IP that we have.

We run AUTOMATIC Cron Jobs to secure the mySQL EVERY SINGLE DAY, PLUS we have HtAccess Protection (One of the Strongest Methods of Protection) to secure our Private PhpMyAdmin.

We make sure our server can prevent hackers from getting anywhere. We spent so much money into this, and we are ABSOLUTELY sure that our Player's Data will remain protected forever. That's our promise to our players.

So howd you get hacked key logged or something

We suspect that one of our High GMs had given out my password. My password was viewable in the CeresCP by anyone with Level 99 GM, however, this is not likely.

I, myself, suspect that they had gotten my password from old servers which I use to play on, such as, CakeRO, PulseRO, acRO, & SpeedRO. All the passwords were changed the second we got hacked and we have had 0 problems ever since that incident!

2 Months have passed, and we are doing fine =) and we will continue to stay fine so we can provide our players with a good gaming experience.

SurgeRO, while they have very high ratings, just doesn't really look up to me in the way other pepole see it. It's a good server, but not a very extreme high rate server. I did play in it for a couple of days, but I soon found that there are other servers worth looking into.

But, this topic isn't to disscuss why I think other server are bad, it's to help me find a new one. :3

=) SurgeRO has ran out of ideas of what to do to improve. Criticism is welcome.

It was quite off-topic in that other thread but it suited this one.

It's funny what the topic starter has said. If you look in his signature he had given SurgeRO 0/10. qRO a 8/10, after qRO switched emulators the famous "Glory" guild (40 members) switched immediately to SurgeRO and I quote, "this please is better than qRO...".

Not to brag or anything... but we might be the server which actually improves over time.

Maybe nothing has changed and the hack was justifiable... who knows... maybe you were so judgemental and found enemies along the way...

SurgeRO, eh? I've tried this one out quite some time ago, and I can't say I was very impressed (though I am pretty demanding when it comes to RO servers). I haven't been on the server for a while, so I'm not sure if it's the same as back then, but all I can remember was alot of running around doing tedious custom quests for customs so powerful you had to have them, or you wouldn't be any good in the long run. Oh, and flaming. Lots of it. Now, I know I can be quite rude sometimes, and I have a tendency of getting into trouble with admins and GMs on most servers, but what I experienced here surely takes the prize. Not many days after I join, I get challenged to a duel. I accept, and after winning a few times, the person challenging me starts PMing me insults, and generally harrassing me in the main town of the server. Of course, after a bit, I get angry, and flame back. Only for a GM to show up and ban me on the spot, after one comment.

But as I said, this was some time ago. Hopefully the server has improved.

Yes, our server has definitely improved.

We generally hire people who are ages 17+ preferably, because we decided that young GMs aren't able to stand the pressure as much as kids who are older. Many of the GMs from the past have been fired, and we are doing fairly well now =D.

well, i'm playing right now.. and everything is going pretty well. i hope the server grows alot more in the future.

the pvp people are dang nasty, they are super violent and cruel to new people in the server and when you just tap them once by accident, the entire pvp hounds you. i know its pvp and all, but jeez.
