yep, how pathetic that the admin is begging n broadcast it to all the players... making excuses that they've been fooled by a past donator who gave a fake money... if you played at Porn-RO for the past few months, u can relate what i mean...

I am a server owner, and I can relate to some owners. People use credit cards without their parent's permission and their parents do a chargeback or they open a dispute. Once dispute has ended and you have lost, PayPal charges you a $20 fee per dispute. I got to the point where I had to spend my own money, a lot of my own money.

I've also inquired about the fee in PayPal. They charge you the fee because Credit reports get sent in and PayPal is your representative, so when you get chargebacks/disputes the credit goes down for PayPal and thus, making them look bad to the Credit Companies such as MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, and all the other companies.

I remember old EuphRO used to be like that.
New EuphRO isn't. The staff that was like that is now in UnityRO. And what's worse, they are begging for donations on their forum.

That sounds a lot like Old EuphRO. Seriously! Even the replies.
(Warning: That thread is old. If you are playing or registered on UnityRO forum, don't reply to it.)

i believe begging is not bad at all. i see alot of beggers in my original country, nothing bad to it! as long as they are not insisting or even harrassing you in order for them to get what they want from you, it's cool for me. i beg alot when i say please or when i want something so bad but i never would insist if they don't want to. of course when i was young it was a different story, i just have to have what i wanted back then... heheheh (^_^) !??!!!

That's like saying asking for donations when you can't pay for the hosting on your website is pitiful.    It's a do or don't do thing, not really pitiful IMO.

Indeed.

I was recently chargeback'd about $350. Guess what? There goes my weekend off from work. I had to work a hell of a lot extra because no one would help me out and donate.

I asked kindly to my players, and a couple donated a little bit, which I was grateful for, however I would never broadcast something as stupid as "guys pls i have no money and stupid person did a chargeback HELP DONATE OR THE SERVER WILL BE DOWN!!!11"

That is probably what the topic poster is talking about.

How the hell do you guys get charged back. If you use the "donation" button and not the "buy" button, it implies that it is a donation. No purchase transaction is intended. Even if a dispute is filed, there won't be a chargeback.

i have no idea wtf paypal is doing , they even let a buyer claim case pass . I was like wtf when paypal took my $66 and close the case ( i was providing eA shared hosting and some random guy file dispute claiming he DIDN'T get his server although he had a server running on his account for months )

here this is the recent dispute/chargeback i get - $150

This is why I wouldn't accept donations as an owner, or I'd do something else. I'd pay to get a post box at the post office and accept money orders with no refund unless deemed otherwise. This way my credit wouldn't get scrapped. If a parent called fraud, I'd refund the money and delete the kids account as punishment for sending me technically stolen money. You've got to pay for a PO box, but it'd be cheaper than accepting damage to your credit reports which can increase interest rates... There are literally thousands of legal loopholes, and it pays off to find the defensive ones to protect you against the miscellaneous morons of the world, ya know?
