RO Server's today.

The main problem is that small populated servers will have the economy trashed almost instantly thanks to mavkas etc and people not buying anything.  By the time new players come along, it's almost impossible to get started, and people end up finding a newer server, but some people will stay on that server cause of what they have.  This means that many new RO servers keep attracted players, and after a certain period of time, people move onto the next server, etc.

I don't see ro-org doing anything different from what current RO servers do, except unite private server players who want a mixed feeling of official and customisation, but who knows.

Man... I totally feel ya.
I´ve been trying to return to RO, since I was out of playing it for about 4 years. Then, I come here and I meet with this shameful state of Ro today. It´s kinda sad...

The problem with the RO private server community is that there are too many servers.

And honestly, 90% of them are a complete waste of the player's time, left to dig around the server listing for another couple hours to find "that one server".

In reality, you are never going to find your favorite server because all the "good" servers have something that's unique about them. Either that or they're so completely unremarkable that they became famous. Take heRO, it's well-known for it's population and Light vs. Dark system. VastRO was known for it's short (but intense, admittedly.) WoE scene. Every "good" server has a selling point, and it really is just a matter of finding the selling point you enjoy best.

Still, too many servers clog up the listing for the people who take time to really create a good experience for players.

rather than have 1 server with population of 200 or 300 we have now situation with 20 to 30 servers in which population is just 20 to 30 that meaning less

Just about every new server in the past year has been nothing but a cancer to this game. You think when you create a new server that you're going to bring back the game, when in reality you're just making it worse. Myself included in that statement by the way.

Stop making new servers, join one of the ones currently up, join an official, or find a new game.

I don't see why a req for the listing shouldn't be that there has to be at-least 200players on at average.

I read the first post and skimmed the rest so forgive me if someone has said something to this effect already.
I had left RO for sometime until getting back into it last fall I joined HeRO at the time because I was starting with some friends and it was the first server we tried. I think HeRO is a good server if you're getting back into the game however I started to take interest in WoE. I tried probably 50 servers with out any success. I think if PvP is to be fixed there needs to be a major mod done that allows small amounts of players to have an intensive battle not just sitting in the emp room. Tho I have given up on finding a good low rate PvP server I still go server searching once and a while but recently I've just been waiting for QuantumRO to launch because it seems promising.

You have no room to talk. He's hardly advertising, he's merely discussing several servers he plays. He didn't once say to join either of the servers he's playing.

The problem with some well-known big servers is they're corrupt one way or another. A good example of this is RebirthRO. It's probably one of the most well-known mid rates. I played that trash for one year. During that year, the following happened:

MANY GMs were let go for corruption
An admin was let go for corruption
The whole GM team left and tried to trash the server(the final straw for me)

Don't even get me started on the player rivalries that plagued the forums during that time.

So what does this prove? Bigger is not always better when it comes to private servers. I was on several servers afterwards. They all either died or proved undesirable.

What is the solution, then?

QUIT MAKING PRIVATE SERVERS IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE TIME TO DO IT AND DON'T TREAT THE SERVER AS A BUSINESS!

Also, in the words of sketchyphoenix on eAthena's forums:

RO is old and populated by a bunch of idiots that like to run around with their poorly designed custom headgears on high rates one shotting porings because it's so ecks dee fun.

...I'm not even going to bother trying to decipher whatever you just tried to say.

However, the only part that could be considered even shameless advertising would be saying heRO is a good server to start on if you're getting back into the game, which it is.

Please learn some proper English before you try and interpret what someone is saying, because you're really bad at it. Go back to your crappy server forums where you can buy Valk sets from your crappy server's cash shop.
