I was wondering what does MVP means to you on a low rate server?

I asked myself the question above, when I came across a promotional video about "the legend of the greatest High Wizard who ever lived" on a low rate server.  It depicts a sole High Wizard killing all sorts of MVPs- Maya, Dark Lord, Fallen Bishop, Orc Hero, RSX, etc. An interesting sight nonetheless. The only strategy I have noticed was putting on his GTB (100% immunity to magic/Earthquake), obtain Instant Cast, place a string of Safety Wall, then SG SG SG continuously. All items made possible with the donation rewards system including an array of MVP cards. Don't get me wrong, its a nice Video with nice music; at least the maker was honest in giving us a glimpse of what we can expect from a low rate server.

Is that how "Greatness" is measured? If you can solo MVPs, u are great? Are "Legends" born out of donation rewards? Are MVPs meant to be solo on low rate servers - not talking about Golden Thief Bug; but higher level MVPs such as Fallen Bishop. What happen to the concept of party?

Are MVPs meant for leveling? I mean, on a low rate server, do u hunt it for its drops or because of the experience it gives? I am aware of a couple of low rate servers which have MVP Bonus set at X50, which means, in a full party of 12, a single person (ONLY ONE, MVP Bonus cannot be shared) is able to obtain X137.5 times normal MVP Bonus. For example; the MVP Bonus of a Kiel in a party of 12 is worth approximately 161m. That 161m goes to a single player; as a reward for dealing the most damage on the said MVP. On a low rate *cough*cough*

p/s: This is under the Discussion section. Not a server review [No server names will be mentioned]. Just wanted to know; what people (in a general sense) expect from a low rate server in terms of MVPing?

Legends are born out of legit PvP/WoE skill.  If you can be the greatest mvper of all ime, but then walk into to pvp and get three hit killed, you're not a legend.

that doesn't make sense

to be a good pvp / woer you need the skill and equipment, along with being a great mvper you need the skill and equipment

MvPs, to me, are meant to be something more of a nice little event for guilds and parties and such, especially when you take on mvps at low levels (4 Level 32 archers and a 39 aco were killing eddga way back on retRO) or if you try fighting high-tier MvPs such as Ifrit and Beelzebub.  MvPs usually are used for item hunting since they drop very useful items.  I don't see problems with soloing MvPs, as once you get the equipment for said MvPs, they are easily soloable.  In my opinion, servers / gravity need to design more party orientated MvPs, like Beelzebub and Ifrit, and I suppose Bishop if you can't tank the banshees, because as it stands, mvps just seem more about the drops than the fun.

To be short if you don't want to read all of this:  MVPing does require skill but is constantly overshadowed by PVPing.  Rather than assuming it takes skill, I just consider it as a source of being "Great".

MVPing does in fact, prove a certain amount of how "Great" you are.  How?  Basically in my view, MVPing takes skills as you need to know how to counter the MVP with your given options of equips, class, and skills.  With that held in mind, you must make use of them and plan a tactic that will allow you to take down an MVP by yourself.  If you can solo, say, Ifrit, by yourself without having to struggle too much against it, then you are certainly "great"... at MVPing.

Of course, having a party to MVP does not hinder your status of being "great".  In fact, it supports it.  It's shown that you're great if you are capable of helping your party and being an important aspect of the team in defeating the said MVP.

Though, just being capable of MVPing by yourself or with a party efficiently, only conjures about 1/4 of how "Great" you are.  Reason is, there are many popular ways in defeating an MVP that doesn't require much thought. Thus, for that lost portion, it is made up through sheer sweat and blood by killing other players in PVP.

Sadly, majority see PVP as a system that determines if you're pro or not, therefore, MVPing isn't valued as much and is masked underneath PVPing to the point where PVP completely determines whether you are great or not in RO.

I forgot to mention that MVPs to me are the source of achieving "Greatness"!  Simply because I tend to MVP early on before hitting level 70, thus, I end up with equips and part of the economy on my account.  I also hog the MVPs for the cards.

I thought greatness was doing something other than playing RO.

Hello..

I played long time on oficial servers with 1x/1x/1x..
Based on it and saying it is a REAL low rate server..

You kill MVPs mostly because its hard, you can solo some MVPs of course, but others you can't do it alone..
So it's a way to make a party and have some fun.

Also the rewards from a MVP is pretty different than others monsters, MVPs normally drops "uber" equips and items, that regular monsters don't.

In one server with more than 1x rates, MVP can means other things, thats true.

In any case, solo MVP can means you are a great players yes... IF, for example, you ALONE in a server with 1x rate and max lvl/status 99 you reach the last floor of Thanatos Tower and Kill him alone... Or if you alone kill Ifrit, etc..

Also, be a good PVPer or WOEr doesn't means you are a great player for me..

Be a great player means: How many effort and fair play have you made to have fun and bring fun to your friends. Thats all.. This thing of oneoneone I killed a whole guild in PVP means nothing for me.. I was an Emperium Breaker in one of the biggest alliance in official server, I was able to break a full defense with like 40 players on it and reach emperium alone, without using any godly gear or GTB card. It means I'm a great player?? I don't think so..

I'm a great player just because I never boted, I ever try to learn all about the game, and most important, I always try to have fun with my friends on game..

Just my point of view.. ^_^

Regards..

All ive to say is ''Amen'' xD!!!

He's on the high way to hell... and you?

Except on a 1x you'll never kill thanatos alone on the top floor (because you need atleast 5 people to get him to spawn anyway) and one manning ifrit, again, is impossible unless you have others buffing you and a stockpile of healing items before touching him, and even then you would need the best gears possible for him

by the way as an emp breaker if you beat one of the top alliances solo with that build i must say either that server is s*** or you're embelishing the truth
