Has anyone other than me, realized that some successful servers are administered by the most inadequate of gms?

Yes... all the big populated servers I've played have been horrible

Though if I look at it, theres always a few groups of stupid people on any server I play so a server with 20 times the population would probably have way more then 20 times the stupid people(Because anyone else is going to be driven away..)

Thats because on most superpopulated servers there are a ton of people pointing errors.

Infinit3

As much people as possible.
I currently play on DarkRO and the amount of people on is great!

My bad, in my dimension, errors doesn`t fix themselves out of nothing.

Can try JokerRO- nice and balance lv 255 and 100% easy lvling....other then that all are balance and GM are friendly...more and more player now so try

for me when choosing a server, i really dont care for the population that much well at least not yet..i look more for the game play and rates. Then when im all settled, the urge for the need of more players come..but hey, they will increase eventually right? :)

One important difference in numbers is between sites that are lax on botting, and those that either discourage it strongly or really do prevent it altogether.
Most servers have a lot of them running around.

When they do, I like 250 or so people online. On servers mostly lacking bots, I like closer to 100-150 online.
It makes WoE big enough to have medium sized parties.
On smaller servers(50bot 30 actual) you usually have two uber guilds duking it out over one castle. When you expand the server size to about triple that size, the fights get smaller, because there are numerous guilds fighting for a lot of different castles(assuming the GMs open enough up, but close enough as well).

I really don't care for 500 people online though. Cities often lag a lot, and it feels too crowded.
Thinking of making your own RO PServer?
Read this first.

lol yeah. i've been on servers like that. What's worse..they even gloat on having a lot of players. well in fact, bots take over half of the population.

kochiro

230 Peak today :) no bots :p

Judgement

I preffer joining servers with huge population so that it gives me motivation to work on stuff.  Especially when it's a low rate.

AnthemRO is a low rate with it's population going from around 350 to 500 throughout the day, and no bots. :P  As for duel cliented vendors it reaches to maybe around 40-80? :x

The discussion about the officials makes me not want to join those servers much. Lol.
Super Smash Brothers 64!

I don't mind where I start playing, mostly because of the fact that over the years I've worked so hard for MvP cards and such on such low drop rates (below .50%), and after I obtain all of this, the server likes to just die.

So basically, I'm not gonna work hard for crap anymore, whether it be MvPing all to myself, or having to fight for spawn times like I used to.

Bennuo

I prefer servers under 1000 people. Otherwise, WoE is just too much.

Shinae

I prefer 100-400 online. When it gets over 400 it's getting too crowded for my taste. I enjoy hunting in peace and farming some MvPs etc. I can play server with other population too, but it requires it to be a great server otherwise. One of my old time classics had only 10-90 online and I played there for years.

Also I probably leave server soon after start if I notice it's poorly GMed. Spam and/or bots running around freely etc.

I always check how many there is online when I choose a new server. Sucks downloading new client and noticing after that server has 0 online.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
