I recently made a topic asking the RMS community about anti boting and anti hacking. We got some great advice and we are now in the middle of customizing a script based on the suggestions the RMS community has given us. We were fortunate enough to also get a developer to reach out to us and is helping us out right now, so really thank you.

The next issue I want to discuss is the end game. I will be sharing some of the things we do in hopes that others will as well. I understand you don't want to give your secrets away, that's totally fine. But if people want t share ideas or make suggestions to all server owners, this might be the right place.

Things that we know work:

BG:
This is a great end game features because it allows players who enjoy pvp type of events to have a ton of fun. At the same time get some nice little rewards from it. The issue we are running into with this is that this is no longer new. Every server has it and it has been played so much that it has lost the excitement factor. At the same time some of our players have been playing BG for months and have most of the equipment they want. I'm not saying this doesn't work, it just doesn't work as well as it used to.
WOE:
There are many types of WOE and we are currently taking advantage of 3 of them. WOE FE, WOE SE and WOE non-rebirth. We find that SE is the most exciting but the WOE time is the biggest determining factor. This is great for engaging players but its only a few times a week. I know some servers have WOE everyday. What are the pros and cons of having a lot of WOE times. Or are ther other ways to run WOEs. I also know baby and super novice WOEs are out there, have not tried them out.
KOE:
King of emperium/hill is a gvg event that I find sorta works. Getting this to a point where it was not abusable also took months, so that was a painful implementation. I really don't have much to say about it besides that it sort of works.
Quests:
These can be for just looks for for power ups. But this only works while the user is trying to get them, eventually they do get them and they are in the same place again. So it sort of works.

I know some of you will have comments on the ones I listed above and that's great. What are some other ideas to improve the end game. I believe this is vitally important to mid rate servers and higher.

Well. In my opinion, if you have too many WoE times, people tend to get bored fast. Probably due to the rinse repeat and zerg rushes(in FE's case) and the possibility of having the old same guilds with the old same strategies all over and over again. Also, investments go down quick since castles tend to swap hands every few wars or so.

On the other hand, if you have too little WoEs, people look forward to them since it's like a weekly(?) event or so. Investments will be more stable in a way(unless an unexpected rush appears and derp happens). Tho, people might get bored of waiting and you'll have to fill in the other days with random events or other stuff to keep them busy and so on.

As for the WoE times, it's better to see how much of the server population comes from where. Like, if it's 60% eastern people and 40% western, maybe 3 WoEs on eastern times and 2 on west? But it'll work itself out on the forums most of the time.

Oh and baby WoE is like when WoE 1st came out.. Only with babies and less stats. It's mostly there for s*** and giggles(unless some players go nuts and wanna be 1337). Lol. xD

It depends really. Some people want badass gears, some want cute stuff, some want random stuff that makes them look derpy(condom hat). It makes a good sink too if you're looking at endgame ideas. Like someplace for old players to throw their zeny or whatever custom currency you have there. Of course you gotta make sure that the headgears are worth making. Give it some vanity effects like err.. "Enables Overcharge and Discount" or "Graffiti lvl 1". I'm sure you know how to work this s*** out. :p

When I ran a server, I experimented with a few different type of new end game features.

Generally the most popular were just custom MVPs and maps.  Which is sad.

I put a huge amount of work into certain things, that were custom and new to an RO server, only to have people try them for a day and never try them again.  It seems to me that most RO players don't like to deviate from the norm, even though they ask for things that are new and different.  So it's hard to please them.

Oh and about WoE, I agree that it's hard to find a balance.  WoE very often makes for good PVP competition but no reason to invest in castles and gain prizes and whatnot.  But only once a week leads to boredom the rest of the week if all they do is PVP.

Thoth

one of the biggest problems for the health of a server is guild consolidation. reducing castles too much forces guilds to merge or not compete. and then instead of multiple factions, you end up with a boring alliance vs horde situation.
castle drops must avoid items that significantly increase the power of a guild. because if one guild holds a castle too long, the power buildup prevents others from challenging the incumbents. instead there should be unique hats/disguises and such visual items- for bragging rights.

Triper

BG:
- If tons of people already got most of the stuff there and don't need nothing more from it then play with it :O Do some quests maybe that use the gear you get there that ends in some special GvG event thing against a Custom MVP? It would be like a PVP with guilds fighting against each other vs a third faction that is a custom hardcore monster stuff.
- Develop new ways of BG? I know that there are tons of them already out there but new ways can always be made if wanted because creativity has no limits as long people want 8D

WoE:
- GMs VS Guilds, anything goes for GMs as long as the GM is still killable by some way!![yeah, no ashura mahdah or whatever is called and the other thing OP too that makes the pair]
- Novice WoE? Could add some custom gear for them at BG just for some fun. You can even use this to implement new BG modes just for that.
- Make Guardians useful by changing their stats at 1.0 and change their respawn spots?
- Revamp WoE 1.0 to not be a zerg festival where the team with best pre-cast at emp room wins.

KoE:
- Add some sort of random obstacles to the map maybe? Maybe even random stuff being cast or even summon some monsters !! You could even add sometimes, SW being auto-cast at EMP or even pneuma like it was a random defensive buff. It would make stuff harder/easier according teams on it but would for sure give more challenge even if some people may be against it >_>

Quests:
- You can do tons of stuff with them just for the challenge or even play with some "semi-OP" gears from kRO and make some quests hard to be finished and ask for a full party that knows what the word team means.

Intricate

Most people do not implement this but I'd say TalonRO's point WoE event is awesome.
