there aren't new episodes being released and a constant stream of new content.

We do still have quite a bunch of episodes to go, due to our intentionally slow episodical progression:
- Rachel
- Veins
- Nameless Island
- Moscovia
- Endless Tower
- ...

That won't be done in 2 years. o-o

but many RO players enjoy the sense of progression.

One careful look at the state of RO servers post-Nova case should give you a different look. After so many servers closed doors to avoid legal persecution, you would think that the few servers remaining would rally, and that's indeed what happened to some of them, like OathRO and some trash midrates. And what happened after these servers went under? Their replacements couldn't inherit their peaks, let alone the sustained growth they enjoyed. The private scene is pitiful. I'm told SEA/SA servers still thrive (though one should always be skeptic of pop numbers), but there's little you can do if you don't speak one of their languages and do mind playing in 180+ ping on account of the distance.

The problem with that line of thought is that it assumes that people enjoy starting anew, gearing up, then quitting before it closes (or seeing it to the end) only to jump to another server with painfully similar settings to play with the same people and potentially under the same GMs for more or less the same time period. Bollocks. The reason why these servers keep on spawning and people keep on joining them is not out of sheer enjoyment of mimicking Sisyphus, but because trash WoE guilds quit when they're beaten cause they want to be on the spanking side somewhere else, or those who dominate it eventually get bored and leave, while other people chase the dragon of lively BGs/GvGs and, depending on the manner of delusion, server stability. Some of these people from both groups are not too unlike some sports fans who don't really enjoy the sports so much as they enjoy winning, or just live off that one time the dopamine burst hit the spot in their youth. But eventually the fantasy dissipates, and because this has been the case for over a decade, many have already moved on. That we have fewer servers with fewer people around should tell you that much (not that this is the only factor).

Ultimately, there is no sense of progression in this case. People who do enjoy such know that a hundred Hillwind Cards in stash is worth more than two hundred wiped...

If this means that eventually most players may lose interest and stop playing, doesn't matter. We will still be there, when you decide to play again, with all your characters untouched.

I play A LOT of games.
I always disappear for years and come back to play again.
I do that with every game so yeah, just my place to be.


As for the example you shared with the scammer, yeah permanent ban is too harsh, maybe he didn't take his meds this day or he is just pure evil, can't tell, but I too prefer to play in a FRIENDLY environment without any jerks.

I don't really get this. The server has been around for years before the shut down. Players, quite literally, have hundreds of millions of zeny and multiple level 99s. The server looks good from a mechanical perspective but I honestly don't think it has much life to it without a wipe. I hope they prove me wrong but there's a reason why fresh servers typically draw more numbers. Players love having a fresh start on equal playing fields. Some of the oldest servers around have maybe 10 players online at any given time. All RO servers have a finite lifespan, such is the nature of the game.

Don't worry, it's not like that.
Leveling to 99 is not that easily without bio3 pt.
Zeny sink was draining 50mil for floating rates so the server is quite poor. XD
The biggest advantage old players have are gear for partying with you.
I myself always play + 1 friend 90% of my time together and without a guild we had it rough. The "Fresh experience" was there, took a lot of effort to make it to 99 without partying.
Think I've joined after 2018 / 2019.

Enough of infinite bump about nothing in particular (posts removed).  I allowed this topic which looked like an advertisement to start with because the community might want to know of a re-opening.  I can understand the initial over-excitement but now the dragging is too obvious to ignore.

Not posting a perma discord link in the first place is a questionable practice?  It cannot be used as an excuse to keep the topic going forever together with all the chatting like exchanges.
