I noticed that several severs have a Zeny Table, disclosing the amount of zeny a player has. It's public information and it seems to be on a increasing trend across all types of servers including low rates.

1. What is the purpose of disclosing how much wealth a player has?

2. How reliable is that piece of information - what if a player has multiple accounts?

3. What about GMs? Those who occasionally play on their server. Are their information included in the Zeny Table?

4. Do you think it's right to disclose sensitive information such as how rich a player is?

Also depends on whether or not they have a banker NPC.
The CP zeny ladders only show what that char is holding. Who knows what is stored away?

1)Show off-ness?
2)Most players just have one and only merchant that carries all or most of the money
3)Mostly yes
4)Most people really don't mind

It's good to gauge inflation and how high you can price certain items, but it's mostly for showing off.

On one of the last servers I played, I was a steady 400 million ahead of most players (since it also showed your banks fund) so it ended up with most people saying I was a GM, I hacked, duped, etc.   Also led to many players begging me for items, and people would sell me items for like 10x the actual price.

It has no particular use imo. Just a way for people to see who's the richest and leech their money off of that person.

Maybe because it's a default feature in many premade Control Panels and people are too lazy/incompetent to turn it off. Or because of the reasons above. People like statistics. But especially on a lowrate I don't think many people like having that information public.

It makes good competition.  Players don't normally mind their zeny being shown to others, and when they do, they usually have a banker NPC.  Hell, I haven't really seen anyone complain about their zeny being shown.  The zeny shown isn't exactly accurate but it's just something neat if you ask me.

I hate if I join new server and I see lots of players in zeny ladder with 900 million zeny. I think it can scare new players away. It has good sides too. You might notice possible corruption or if someone abuses bug to get zeny.

I would rather not have zeny shown. It's nice at the start of new server to keep track of overall market, but later it gets annoying.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
