Title: Another inter-server tournament
Post by: hexzerg on Oct 24, 2010, 09:33 PM
Ratemyserver.net had an inter-server tournament for 2009 but what about 2010? We should have another one to bring in the
2010
year. Anyone agreeing with me? I hope they do!  :D

We are passive here.  I think I answered this before.

Organizers can approach us with a well planned proposal and we will decide if we can help with the publicity.  Preferably the proposal can focus on the event itself rather than for the publicity of a specific server.  That is usually the reason we reject a proposal or without a proposal.  Feedback from the last event told us the coverage includes "Feel RO" was unfair to other servers.  We too understand organizing the event is a huge project and not taking some advantage is kind of hard for anybody.  So we'll see what / who approach us.

I am sorry the current resource of RMS does not have access to scripters, planners, helpers etc that will organize the event alone.

I moved Lumina from hosts recently and I have my last host as a spare dedicated server that is on my hands until november 14th which is when it dues and will be canceled. I could offer that to host the event if it's enough to handle such an influx of interserver players and offer a client that connects to it and it would even have bot and wpe protection from harmony for the event. I just need to ask sirius if he allows me doing that.
Unfortunately I don't have time to organize the whole event and script the necessary stuff for it. All I could do at most is to setup a temporary flux panel for the registering, since that's pretty quick.
I'm not sure if this is helpful at all and I'm also not sure if it's viable organizing, preparing and advertising such an event so quickly since I'll have the host for this short time. But if someone thinks this can help and he/she can organize a team I don't see why not making a proposal to yC.

Managing Event need a great amount of Skilled and experienced persons I think RMs had conducted one past from the feedbacks they would correct and move onto this year events I think RMs can tie up with some Ragnarok hosting company or companys  and some representatives from top ros make a panel or team then excute the event I think RMS can do it Its just taking about intiative but on the other side it has its own risk of performing the event in fair manner As far as i see some ROs have really good professional staff ,I support adhelle in this case adhele has been matured in the comments and fair all time TOp ro are ranked top because they are indeed fair and have good staffs

I think getting the experts to setup the event is the hard part.

Wish I got a copy of what feel ro was running back a year or so ago :(

Yes according to me hosting companies do have bunch of scripters which can be used either ways they use RMS for their paid services they can give back a little to RMS in this way

Title: Re: Another inter-server tournament

I could potentially work out the script if I wasn't 20 days away from opening my server. It would be all that hard, I'd pull off the scripting in a week or so (considering my server is nearly a inter-server setup in the first place, few tweaks and it would be good). After my server launch, if it's running smoothly and I have spare time to invest in such a project, I'll propose something.

So Justin, I'm assuming; stuff like:

- 48 Guild Member capacity
- Item sellers such like Armors/Weapons/Shields/Accessories/Garments/Shoes, with the items that people use most for WoE? And as such, BG armors, and items that people use for WoE in 2010.
- Armor Enchanters
- WoE supplies NPC, such like an autobuy NPC, you just gotta setup what supplies you want via the NPC , and such.
- WoE Cards NPC?
- Instant 99/70 NPC?

There's been a lot of interguilds and interservers aside from the RMS one.

It's mainly the latin RO servers doing interservers though.

The people on board so far are trustworthy--I agree.

Hi guys,

Well this truly is a great plan and needs a lot of work to plan things accordingly...

Btw does YC have all the files which was used for last year's interserver tournament which will make things easier for the tournament...
Title: Re: Another inter-server tournament
Post by: Yukino on Dec 05, 2010, 01:23 PM
Nope, I don't think she has the files. The server FeelRO should have those files... Just read her second post in this thread.

I think it's possible to have this going if there are more people who can help out--there are 3 good people/companies that are in at the moment. It also depends on the time of the event as well...

I think this through and written down some points on paper (don't know where I put it but I could always find it).  That include problems we have to overcome and human resources / technique work needed to be done and decided upon.

At the end, all I know is the time is too tight to do anything for this Christmas so I didn't join this discussion since last month.  If this still interest people (even the event might not take place if plan fails to see future) I might want to open a new section in the forum under RMS Gaming just to discuss the possibility of such event and the problems/questions that I seek answers to.

I'm pretty interested in it still (to either join or help out since I want to check out what this kind of WoE is like). The event can be held later on in the next year anyways, so there's still time for preparation ^^. Maybe there can be biannual WoE instead of annual ones if these events cannot be kept up annually. It gives the annointed server some time to prepare as well. Reminds me of the Olympics lol.
Well, I hope there can be another inter-server tournament. It seems cool, and I heard some fun things that happened during last time's.

You should put up an announcement for volunteers, I would definitely help out with scripting the event.

Well. I can offer Lumina's host for the event day. I'd shut it for a day seeing it's a special event, and seeing a lot of Lumina players would participate on it too. It has held about 1000 players fine, and I already have a client with Harmony Shield licensed to my ip.

Tournament Rules

Rules:

- Don't use inapproporiate (immoral, irritating, rude) guild emblems
- Don't use inapproporiate (foul language, harrasing) guild\char names
- Don't spam skills outside gvg/pvp zones
- Don't spam in public chat
- Play fair: no unrequested deals to opponents inside the castles, no kyrie outside the castle to remove assumptio, no Ice Walls to close entrances to the castles, every guild participating in WoE should have an emblem. Maximum allowed transparent area for the guild emblem is 30%. Change emblem function during WoE will be disabled.

The Prizes :
QUOTE
Defining the winners:

Each WoE 1.0 castle in guild's possession after the WoE is over is worth 1 point. Each WoE 2.0 castle in guild's possession after the WoE is over is worth 1.5 points. Guild with highest number of points after the woe is over - wins.

If there are several guilds with equal number of castles - the winner is decided based on total quantity of minutes of castle(s) holding. Each time your guild breakes an emperium in a castle - we start a personal time counter. Each time you loose one of your castles, the timer for this castle stops. In the end of WoE we sum up values for every guild.

Example:
Guild 1 was defending Castle 1 for 110 minutes and Castle 2 for 30 minutes. In the end of WoE Guild 1 has 2 castles and 140 minutes of castle holding.
Guild 2 was defending Castle 3 for 30 minutes and Castle 4 for 50 minutes. In the end of WoE Guild 2 has 2 castles and 80 minutes of castle holding.
Guild 1 wins. Guild 2 loses.

There will be 3 winners in the main competition + 1 winner in the competition of kills (decided by killcounter)

Another question.... (I know I already asked it when the topic was created, but nobody answered, so wth)
About how many players were online during the last tournment?
It'd be cool to find this out so I can have an idea if I'll have to interrupt both Lumina servers for the event day, and also what's the better setup for the event since I have 2 machines available.

Wow toastyboi how did you find a copy of that list.  I was trying to look for it from the proposal they sent to me in my msn receive folder. But figured it should be in my old computer which now has its AGP video card broken with no replacement available :(

Good to know Adhelle is planning one.  Not sure what we can do, but feel free to ask.

Found some ss in this comp, http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=113

It shows 1800~.  It is the first ss in the folder, should be just few minutes before it begins.  He contacted most big guilds from different private servers for the event as far as I can remember.

And what if we'd make something different? How about doing World Championship (including Asia) in WoE? Each continent gathers guild list and host a qualification round - for example maximum of 5/6 teams of each continent qualifies for the official tournament. Then we have group stage where 2/3 guilds out of X makes it to the quater-final, then semi-finals are only Two guilds fighting for the title.

Another tournament would be awesome. As long as it had the right set up. If I were doing this I wouldn't want to spend a month hunting so I could do the woe. I have the server I play properly for that. It need's to have a way people can come in pretty get everything they want in a couple of days, a week max, a couple of practise woe's then bam, tournament, but in a way that's not OP'd

Another interesting way to do it might be having each server submit one guild, and that guild represents that specific server, then at the end of it, they have bragging rights "OH XXXXXRO HAS THE BEST GUILD IN RO"

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but for tournaments theres absolutely no hunting for equips involved. Every guild gets a pack with pre-determined equips. I've seen some with a cap for classes, for example max biochems you can have in a guild are 3x every 15 persons etc. That way is all based in teamworks/skills, when everyone has absolutely the same equips/cards/consumables.

No need to correct, you're right. On tourments you get the necessary stuff in a click. Although on some tourments I've seen you can also get additional stuff through BG, usually opened only a couple of hours before WoE starts or through cash points.

The Tourney that was hosted on Feel RO had NPC that you got to choose your eqiups from a set list of items.  You could have limited qty form each area (upper, mid, lower, armor, left hand, right hand, garmet, shoes, and accessories).  There were also cards available in the same format, predetermined list of cards ava.  All items were COMMON WoE equips.  There were also NPCs where you could get limited number of a predetermined list of consumables.  As I remember all were locked to the person once chosen, no trading stuff around.

Personally I find the thought of having cash points ava to get better/different gears disgusting.  Cant stand someone being able to buy an advantage...

The main problem with all of this is that FeelRO was the only server to successfully implement a offensive and defensive rating to keep track of a guild's performance in WoE. Managing server resources to provide a lagless environment, planning the event to make sure people actually show up, scripting the preparation NPCs and WoE System, and tracking guild performance are all major obstacles.

Unless we have someone here who know how to handle the server-coding and develop a algorithm for the rating, it wouldn't be easy to identify the winner.

Was there a guild size limit when FeelRO did it?
It'd be handy to have a copy of the rules/equips etc they used to help in recreating a similar type event.

The original "event maker" was FeelRO's admin. He's gone. He simply... vanished.

Not possible.

I think it's a good idea, though. Maybe the admins of certain WoE servers could help out.

hmmm, I thought the guild size limit was reduced... but, when I asked a friend he said that it was the standard 76 characters.  Wow, really not helpful :P

Personally I would think that limiting it to a bit smaller guild and no alliances would make it more fun, if it was to be FE.  If it was SE then I like 76 and no alliances.

A lot has changed since 2009 so completely copying the idea of FeelRO will end up a disaster.

Look at known WoE servers like standartRO, gwRO and the idea of visionROv2 as an example.

FE? LOL

SE or do not do it at all.

I have an idea regarding everything but scripting may take time, actually talking to extremeRO staff but currently they're busy with the server so yeah. Although the servers can actually talk with each other to host a major interserver tournament and just get ads going for all the servers imo.
