When you beat a GM's legit, And he comes back in with 3 more MvP cards and instead of mostly +10 gear, Now his accessories are +10

Most reports of "corruption" I see is when someone gets banned and they just try giving the server a bad name(And failing at it) sometimes they actually have proof(Then the admin defends himself with complete s***)
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL..... 'now his accessories are +10'. I think corruption is non-existent, if you really think about it... if a person makes his own server, he's allowed to do anything on it... there's really nothing that says, HEY... YOU CAN'T DO THIS JUST CAUSE YOU MADE THAT SERVER! Then again, if they are hosting a p-server... "professionally" as a service, and getting paid... and then the owner does bad things which the whole community does not approve of... like, 'now his accessories are +10'... that'll be considered as corruption.

technically, corruption is considered when a leader starts doing unfair acts to benifit himself and let the community in crap, if you want to do anything just because you made a server, then keep it to yourself if you don't want any drama

People, for some reason, hold server owners to a kind of honor system. When the mood strikes, I am one of these people. I don't really understand why I bother, though.

If Server Owner A is paying for his server, he can do whatever the hell he likes with it, technically. It belongs to him. He keeps it up and running for others to play - if they don't like it, they will leave, his server will crash and burn (thus why "corruption" tends to stay hidden... in the beginning). If they like it, it will thrive, or at least ... not die.

If he chooses to spawn gear for himself and his friends, it's unfair. Everyone will come here and whine about it. But truth is, it's his thingy, he can do... whatever he wants. And when people are given the freedom to do as they please, they tend to make decisions that piss all the "common" people off. :3

On the other hand, by running a private server, you are providing a SERVICE to the players who come to you. They have chosen you, and you have something of a duty to please them, or obviously they will find somewhere else to go, and drag your name through the mud on their way out. If you're wise, you'll keep anything that can be interpreted as corruption - spawning items for friends, showing extreme favoritism, throwing tantrums at people who criticize you, bribing people for reviews, etc - on the down-low, and keep the players as happy as you can. They're doing you as much a favor by sticking around as you are by keeping the server up.

I'm hesitant to use the word "corruption" myself, as it's such a buzzword with MMOs lately. Are people "corrupted" by the power associated with ingame commands? Definitely. The definition of corruption can be found in a dictionary, so this topic is just pointing out all the things that SPRING from corruption, technically.

Hi, I'm half asleep and rambling. Ignore me.

Everyone has their own definition of corruption, the one I said above is the one that most RMS Members consider to be the main case, even though, some people considering getting banned because of botting to be a corrupt action from the GM, everyone has their point of view, even if it makes as much sense as a chocolate teapot

Again, I believe you are wrong. Think about it, seriously... Let's say you just made a server, let other people download it... THEY chose to download it, you're not forcing them to play... so why can't you do anything you want on that server? Are these people PAYING you? Where does it say that... if you're letting the public join your server, there's a hidden list of rules that one must follow to avoid what you call 'corruption'?

In the beginning, most private servers were made for a group of friends to kinda enjoy... but as you can see, more and more servers have made it a sort of a business, that's when you can really call out a server for corruption.

If you want a server just for you and your friends, then keep it to yourselfs, if you want to have a server with you and your friends with leet gear and posting it on RMS and keeping the fact of your gears away from other players, then you are terribly wrong, of course, you are not forcing them, but people do have the right to nag about how the server is run, heck, I can make the biggest scamfest of a server by asking friends to play with it, give 1337 stuff to them and start running everything like an evil dictator, but people who do not like it should at least have the opportunity to say it on RMS, and this is what we call "Server corruption"

That it shouldn't be called 'corruption' is probably what he and Hutchy means.

Shouldn't there be a more suitable term for it? Like "doing what you want and to hell with others".

XileRo is the only HR I know that has a reasonable PvP system. I did watch the RWC like you said, all I see is people spamming the room like every other gang fight there is in RO.

Most people choose "Corrupt" because it is almost the same of what the real life kind means, even though, if you want a big word, DWYWATHWO also serves

Corruption is a change of state... from a more acceptable, standard, balanced stance, to a more selfish one.

When people join a server, they on the very least expect some common sense from the administration... if they hear "this is a good server with friendly GMs where we treat everyone equally and we do our best to provide you a fun environment to play," they don't expect this to mean "except for some GMS and the admin who can do whatever the hell they want and you aren't allowed to whine about it or we'll ban you for a month and jail your character for a year. After we strip you of your equipments."

The arguments where you go "this is your server so you can do whatever the hell you want with it" would be fine if you are going to equal corruption to "not following the law" rather than comparing it to "being unethical."

This subject is boring, but I guess people don't have much to talk about :B

Technically, the third paragraph is a huge complicated paradox, ethics exists, and laws exists, you can follow them, but they do not exist, you can break them, people will say they do exist, you can do something completely ethical, they say they exist and do not exist, they say the ethics are visibile, but the laws are invisible and the ethics are said by some to not exist, if so, what is real and what is not?

Thanks for adding additional informations Patapooon.

Lets just hope no one thinks of corruption as "A GM didn't ban B player because B player killed C player and D GM agrees with A GM and didn't give C player items because it was unfair that B player had played for a long time and C player only joined 3 days ago."
