Title: [WOE GRF] Nerva.grf Public Release!

Hi all,

Just want to publicly share my GRF that was originally released for our guild. Why? Because these kinds of files get leaked eventually, and at least I get SOME credit for it.

What's in this GRF? It's a collection of already existing GRF's and effects, but it also contains some .ACT, .STR and a lot of other files that I created from scratch.

Original Features:
- Chroma/RGB Cursor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c85IA_NJ40), coz why not? (Separate download, check the attachments)
- Minimal Wizard skills, custom animations! (SG, MS, LOV, Quagmire, Fire Wall)
- Reduced SPP Heal Effect to 3px (doesn't help with the visual lag when SPP is spammed, in my experience, so I just minimized it instead of removing it completely)
- Minimal Safety Wall effect with 3px height, effectively making it a 'ground' effect.
- Increased Wall of Fog to 6px height for visibility.
- Sanctuary ground effect is now black but meh.. who cares. At least you can see it still. It's not the same as Wall of Fog effect anyway.
- Custom Pneuma animation with countdown and affected area, and the number is right on the tile where Pneuma was cast (center of 3x3 area)
- Pneuma and Sanctuary "affected cells" have been minimized further from a shade to just an outline.
- Most WOE buffs and priest buffs have a similar animation to Increase AGI, with the skill name/effect being shown)
- Some WOE debuffs have a similar effect to Decrease AGI
- Dispell and Lex Aeterna have a similar animation to Decrease AGI, but both have a "Target" animation so your guild knows who to focus fire on
- Useful WOE materials (used for brewing and for repairing barricades/guardian stones) are made bigger so they are easier to loot
- Yellow Spirit Spheres and Yellow "Fury/Critical Explosion Aura" because it looks good if your server has the Goku hair costume(also easier to see).
- Transparent skill bar that works for both old and new clients
- Some buffs have the buff name in the icon/timer below the minimap
- /hlp says Buff instead of Help
- Text-based Status Effects, including Chaos and Mute (that don't look ugly)
- Smokie Falcons!
- Neon Green Arrows for better Arrow Shower / Sharp Shooting visibility
- Simplified Bolt Skills, reduced opacity and minimized effects
- Transparent Ice Wall
- Taekwon Love! Warm Wind skill effect shows the element, and the buff icon also shows the element.
- Blue Tiled Maps (WOE Castles only) generated with GRF Editor, and edited WOE:SE castles to mark Flags, Spawn Points and Barricade Repair NPCs.

Text-based Buffs (CYAN) and Debuffs (RED)
Buffs have same animation as Increase AGI, Debuffs have same animation as Decrease AGI

- WOE:SE Minimaps, edited for better visibility
- Enhanced Hiding skill effect (sprite changed)
- Large Card Sprite (with a d!ckbutt on it)
- Large MVP/Miniboss sprites
- Custom Land Protector sprite
- Custom Spider Web/Fiber Lock sprite
- Minimal Sage ground spells (LP, Deluge, Volcano, Violent Gale)
- Minimal character "aura" when casting skills
- Minimal 99 Aura
- Small Sight/Ruwach
- 3s Bard/Dancer Songs
- Custom Tarot Card sprites
- No Wind/Fire/Earth/Water Hit effect

- Uniform Tarot Card Sprites (I'm having trouble making these look good)
- Place marker for guild dungeon entrances in WOE:FE (BrowEdit is being stupid with WOE:FE castles, idk why)
- Make all existing text effects smaller.
- Provoke and Mind Breaker (not originally changed because our server disabled MB in WOE) Provoke done, Mind Breaker can't be changed :/

Hey guys,

Thanks for the message and for the feedback.

@VapePod, I got ur message about your suggestions. I cant comment on the others mainly due to my personal preferences.

About making a tiled map: My guildmate got nauseous with the flat blue map that Thoth originally made, so I'm making a tiled version with the same colors, for now, but the color may change in the future.

Adding the flags and spawn points too, just like Thoth did, mostly because my guildmates are GvG/WOE newbies that might now know where the flags are.

So here's an update for you, it should be out within the week:

Spawn points and flags use older models from prontera and clock tower (i think) to minimize any errors on your end.

Hi all, updated the GRF and Version 2 is out. Changes done:
- Wall of Fog is restored
- Sanc and SW still invisible, so made a custom animation for those instead
- new Pneuma animation
- tried a mixed buff/debuff animation (Provoke)
- Custom tiled WOE maps (WOE:SE has flags, spawn points and repair npc's marked, check the previous post)

hi, I got it: / I even saw the gifs in the posts, I even used the grf, it's really pretty, congratulations!
However, I wanted to see it in some WoE, because I have a few doubts, otherwise it would "pollute" the image a little. For example, the effect of devotion, as in WoEs it is very '' repetitive '', I wanted to see if it would be too exaggerated.

Okay, so I made an update to the GRF today, version 2.1 I guess.

Please check the first post for the link to download and for a preview of today's updates:
- Restored but reduced SPP Heal Effect to 3px (doesn't help with the visual lag when SPP is spammed, in my experience, so I just minimized it instead of removing it completely)
- Restored but reduced Safety Wall effect to 3px height, effectively making it a 'ground' effect.

Hi all, sorry for the double post. I'm not sure if Ara from the above thread actually finished this chroma mouse but it's great.

I went ahead and picked up on her work, took me a couple of hours just to figure out how to retain the colors because of that palette thingy so I changed a few colors: background is #000000 and the outline of the cursor is #131313) but other than that, the colors were taken from her work.

For the limitations of this cursor, please watch the youtube video above and check the video description :)

Anyway, I'll add it soon to the GRF that I released, but I wanted to thank Ara for starting this for us.



Edit, I didn't want to triple post:

I added it to the GRF, now at version 2.2 I guess? Same download links of course.

Some notes:
- The 'item pickup' animation only has 3 frames and does not work even when additional frames are added.
- The 'button press' animation first frame does not animate, but only animates when it's pressed and held down. I made it loop 5x before it stopped back at the first frame. (video only has 2 loops)
- The 'talk to NPC' animation does not loop and so I extended it to loop 5x before it stopped back at the first frame. (video only has 2 loops)
- The 'enter warp' animation is so slow and is controlled by the client. Also I didn't bother animating the whole door open/close thing.
- The 'dead cell' animation is only available for new clients, but the actual files work for both old and new clients.

I tried but I can't get the walls to be black just like in the video. Also.. meh, it doesn't look too good and I can't imagine it being useful, for me at least.

I think it's a combination of both, flattened it with GRF Editor and then manually edited it but I don't know for sure.

Hello, good morning. How are you? again congratulations on the great GRF. I am translating the skills into Portuguese, Example: Bless = Benção in Portuguese. So I opened photoshop and put Portuguese as the same font that you gave me, but when you went to GRF it loses the "black borders" and consequently asks for the borders within the game, the question is what am I doing wrong? PS: Sorry for possible english errors because I'm using google translator.

You can generate new tilemaps using GRF Editor, change the colors of the textures there and tick the box to show gutterlines.

Then you can still use the WOE maps that I made, they will automatically change color to the one that you choose in GRF editor. BUT gutterline is never shown in WOE in the map I made.

Hello again, sorry for the double post.

V3 is released today, just some minor changes to take note of:
- Added Neon Green Arrows for better visibility (AS, SS)
- Improved Blessing animation by reducing size and duration, and removing upward motion. Fade In still doesn't work, but fade out does for some reason (even if the .act has no fade out frames ._.)
- Added Mute and Chaos text status effects and this time, they don't look ugly. Also, I kept the emoticon bubble and just added the text below.
- Smokie Falcons!

Thanks for the quick tip about changing the colors of the tiles but what I was pertaining to was actually the texture. This was taken from a certain grf(Credits to the maker/owner) but I really don't want to use their grf and was just curious if I'll be able to edit/customize it as well :)

I see, that should be easy, I have not tried it yet, but I have an idea on how to do it.

I don't have much experience with it but judging from your picture, it can be that the maker generated flat maps using GRF Editor, but input his own custom textures which he made in advance.

It's just a matter of making sure you have different textures for walkable cells, snipe cells, dead cells and gutter lines.

Check the screenshot below, each cell type is shown in different colors, and the input texture folder (open this by clicking on change textures) is where you can change what texture will be used when you generate the flat maps using the tool.

You can reference the Cell Types tab to make sure you're putting the correct custom texture for each cell type :)

I think the file names are understandable, the confusing ones are the following:
c-1.bmp = Special 1? I think
c-2.bmp = Special 2
c-3.bmp = Special 3
cw.bmp = Wall?
cx.bmp = Reserved, not used anywhere.

Border has no special file, I think it's determined in each bmp :)

Also, I'm glad you like my GRF! I updated it today, make sure to check out the latest version :)

Hey buddy, I saw your message but I can't reply because I exceeded the 5 messages per hour limit.

Yes, just extract the .str files in the GRF for the buffs and debuffs that you like (also make sure to extract the custom image files that they use, in GRF editor, you can see what images a certain .str file uses, it says Extract resources and it will show you a checklist)

Hmmm.. maybe your server had a patch that affected those files, try to merge the GRF again~

EDIT:

I didn't wanna double post, so here are today's updates:
- Simplified Soul Link (GG, idea came from kawaii-rage)
- Simplified Bolt Skills (reduced opacity, minimized effect for lightning bolt)
- Transparent Ice Wall (new texture, side effect of minimizing cold bolt)
- Showing Taekwon love! Warm Wind now displays the element on the effect and on the buff icon under the minimap.

Definitely, this server that is running the server with the most bugs that I saw today. After a lot of trying to merge and other paths resolved or used by the meteor storm and the lord of vermelion, the day of war came and my computer looks like a potato as bad as it is, and finds that the effect works 100% on everyone the LESS maps in the Castle. Follows as impression

I just tried to merge it to my ragna folder i was playing and i dont see the effects of the grf nerva provides. I saw in some guide they replace the data.grf to the edited grf i tried it but the game wont start.

I made it! but now i got a new problem, when I try to go to comodo, all the water are gone. Bio Lab 3 water area too. Its all BLACK and no borderlines. Did i do something wrong?

Interesting and the following, I'm starting to believe that it is a problem with a server, because I tested it on other 5 servers and the GRF worked normal. And on that server in question * Forest * The Storm Gust ability works Inside and outside the Castle, only Meteor Storm and Lord of Vermilion that don't

I noticed you removed its skill effect. I would like to maintain it's original skill effect so i searched texture>effects folder and sprite>ÀÌÆÑÆ® for hours already but to no avail, i still can't find it.

Hi! I have been using your grf for a while now and its great! thank you for your works! But after my server update, it starts crashing sometimes when I go to the main town, do you know what cause it? Hello again, sorry for the double post.

V3 is released today, just some minor changes to take note of:
- Added Neon Green Arrows for better visibility (AS, SS)
- Improved Blessing animation by reducing size and duration, and removing upward motion. Fade In still doesn't work, but fade out does for some reason (even if the .act has no fade out frames ._.)
- Added Mute and Chaos text status effects and this time, they don't look ugly. Also, I kept the emoticon bubble and just added the text below.
- Smokie Falcons!

Hi all, sorry for the lack of updates, real life hit me hard.

If you've recently downloaded the GRF and you did not get the Chroma Cursor, I removed it from the GRF because many people are getting Gepard Shield errors from it. This happens because the Chroma Cursor is edited differently (I added more frames and more reference files instead of just editing the existing cursor).

I've attached it to the original post instead, and you can add it to your GRF manually by doing the below steps:

1. Locate /data/sprite/cursors.spr and /data/sprite/cursors.act using GRF Editor
2. Backup your original cursors.spr and cursors.act file by extracting them
3. Replace with the custom cursor files attached in the first post

If ever you get errors, just restore your original cursors file. Thank you!

Your blue version is amazing for farming maps, very enjoying it.

Suggestion to add a small warning since towns are not updated (or depends the server you play in?)

Also I would like to know if anyone have suggestions for 100% pure Vendor client with minimal effects in order to reduce CPU/RAM as much as you can.
