Windows 7 support

Hey everyone,
I used to play RO way back and I wanted to redo it for nostalgic purposes.

So after discovering Gravity dropped support for Sakray and its all Ragnarok + RagnarokRE. I downloaded and installed both as well as the server I'm using. When I run the game the HackSHIELD opens, loads and it closes but my client never starts.

After doing some searching and research i disabled my firewalls or allowed everything threw them. I've deleted and installed everything with UAC and DEP off. Patched and Run everything as an administrator. I open the game again (as an admin), the HackSHIELD comes up, and disappears but my game never starts. There aren't any error messages and the game isn't run in my processes list. It just never starts.

ADDITION: I always install it to a folder on my desktop, not my program files so thats not the problem.

Anyone have any ideas as to a fix for this?

OS : Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
Processor : AMD Phenom II X2 545 Processor 3.00 GHz
RAM : 6.0 GB
Video : NVIDIA GeForce G210

did you try running as admin/turning off UAC?

i use win7 64bit as well.

both my Phenom II 965 and i7 920 both can run RO D:

Sorry for the Double Post.
I've also run everything in compatibility mood, after further research it seems the main problem isn't the game, its the HackShield. Does anyone know a fix for this? I've already tried letting it through the DEP and Windows Firewall.

Change the .exe's permissions to:

Run as admin
Run in XP SP3 compatibility mode
Disable visual themes and desktop composition

That should work.

Well, now my screen flickers when it starts. But the game still doesn't load up. Any other suggestions? Those were good.

Use the setup.exe that came with it to change your graphic settings. If your graphics card does not show in the list, then you will have to reinstall your drivers.

Also. RO + DEP = Fail. Don't bother with DEP.

It does show up but selecting it doesn't change anything =/
I have four options:
Direct 3D Hal
Direct 3D T&L Hal
Nvidia GeForce 210
Nvidia GeForce 210

I don't know why there's dupes, but none of them have an effect.

Try installing RO in to the x86 version of your program files... ?

=/ no success. The server I'm trying to install uses their own Hack Prevention system, so I'm testing it on a different server that doesn't. I'll get back with results in a second

That settles it. The problem is the Hack Shield system. It worked perfectly on the other server.
So any ideas on how to get around the Hack Shield system?

Guess it sucks to be the server that doesn't support Windows 7. I'll just have to find a different one.

Just out of curiosity, did you add the same permissions I listed above to the hack shield exe too?

have you tried asking support on the server forums?
players of lumina often get problems with our hack shield software and we have a list of common fixes on forum. Ours is perfectly compatible with win7 though. But maybe if you ask around on their forums they can help.

Protip.

Run setup.exe, Configure it. Then run your server's exe.
If you lack it, Then download it off RMS download section. Should work.

This is a common problem.
