People that use wine to play RO need it. Ask the admin of the server you're trying to play.

Hi there.

To check a server's IP is very simple.

In every server there is a sclientinfo.xml file in the data folder or their "customdata".grf.

Open up the sclientinfo.xml with notepad and you will be able to see
<address>IP or a website adress</address>

If there is an IP, which should be like: 1**.23*.1*1.*32
Then, that is the server IP.

If the address is a link to a website, then you have to use
www.google.com
and search for IP track
for example I use this link:
http://aruljohn.com/track.pl
then you simply type in the website address and track the IP.
You will then find the server IP as well.

Kind regards, hope it helped :)

Or you could simply run a ping from your own machine.
jamie@linty:~ $ ping www.google.com
PING google.navigation.opendns.com (208.69.34.231) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from google.navigation.opendns.com (208.69.34.231): icmp_seq=1 ttl=59 time=21.4 ms

Granted, Google isn't your every-day RO server and results are opendns related (DNS servers I use) :-).

Yep,
shkm is right.

You could also run cmd.
then type ping address
example:
ping somethingsomethingsomething.c*m

Also...for those who have never used bot, it requires the server's IP to bot. Just an add-on information for you folks out there.

Start --> Run --> cmd --> ping <website name>
As for server ip addresses, usually they keep the sclientinfo.xml in the data folder, if not you can get a grf tool to open their grf files and get the sclientinfo.xml out.
extract the sclientinfo.xml, right click on it and edit, it should open notepad.
The server's IP should be listed there.

Also note, if the server is a *.no-ip.org or a website rather than a direct ip address.
Simply ping the address as is.
Port is usually 6900 for login server.

Umm, how do you find the Character Server IP?

What exactly do you need it for?  The Character Server IP would normally be the servers IP anyway, so theres no reason why you would need that specifically.

Oh ok, thanks ;D
The servers website IP would be the same then?
Also, if you have two servers installed into the same folder, (RMS Test server and another) How can you check the IP of each one?

I really have to ask why. Either you're another OpenKore kiddie or you're trying something shady.

People,

If he is using Linux, he'd have more than enough brain power to have gotten the IP address.

This is so obvious that he wants it for something OTHER than trying to connect to the server.

Please delete all posts showing how IP addresses to server can be obtained.

Good day.

If he wants to hack, let him.
Hacking is illegal, and since this guy is obviously a noob at it, he will easily be caught.
Enjoy jail :)

Yeah, something like that. I'm trying to get a program that tells you your EXP per hour to work. It reads the packets or something, not changes them. :-\
