Ok, so I have been playing RO for a few months now (five or so) and I think it's about time i actually learned what the hell is in my RO folder.

From what I've gathered it seems that I need Sakray, and Kro to be able to play private servers. What is sakray/kro? Where can I find the latest version? If I goto a website and download the patcher for a private server, what exactly do I need in my Gravity>RO folder to be able to run the patcher successfully? What steps do I need to take to have multiple servers all on my pc, all in my Gravity folder? What is this DATA.INI that I keep hearing about?

Why do I download some files which need to be extracted? Whats the point of compressing files? Should i use winrar for my compressing?

I've often wondered why I get all these errors and what not, so I want to learn more about the technical side of things. Help?

I will try to answer what I still remember:

Sakray and kRO/iRO are the Ragnarok clients. Most private servers require Korean clients and some only one of those (usually Korean version of Sakray). The latest version could be most likely found here, in the download section.

You need the files they say you need, install the required RO client and the private servers client and run the the patcher for RO/Sak and servers client and it should do everything automatically.

To have couple clients for private server installed, you need to install them (both RO and the client) to different folders, that's the easiest way.

Data.ini stores the data on which GRF files should be runned and in what sequence (if I remember right, I can't check it now).

Ya.
Thanks for that. It makes sense, but still there is something wrong. It seems that when I download sak/kro they turn into winrar files automatically. As a result I can't tell if I need to a, run these files b, extract them c, reformat them into other types of files.
Thanks though. You cleared my head up a bit. =3

You extract them and they should become .exe's. Then you can open and install them.

because the official source of the kRO (korean official RO) client is downloadable only from a korea located IP, the clients are hard to get for non-korea living people (those that plays private server obviously).  kRO clients you see are in parts so people can download them easier ... i.e. not to get d/c in the middle and start all over again.  You just have to get all the parts and run part 1 to combine them into an installer most of the time.
