new to RO

i downloaded everything i needed to and downloaded a server i let the server finish its patches...clicked start game then nothing happened besides the patcher closing??? any help with this please

To be honest, it could be anything. A broken file, a corrupt download/install, or just a firewall issue.

I'd suggest taking this to the technical part of the forums of the server you're attempting to connect to.

However, if you don't wish to take it to their forums, here's my suggestion:

1. Completely delete the folder in which all of your files are located, and create a fresh, new one.
2. First, install kRO into the folder. If you're unaware of where to get a recent one, I would suggest using Ragray. (Click me for Ragray)
3. After finishing your kRO install, this is when you'll install the server you are trying to play. Both the server files and the kRO files must be in the same folder. Do not put two servers into the same folder, either.
4. PATCH kRO and kRO RENEWAL FIRST. If you're using Ragray, there is a single .exe that you can use that will patch the both of them. If not, patch them one by one until the button on the far, bottom left is no longer grayed out.
5. After you've completely patched kRO and kRO-RE, then you may proceed to attempt to patch the actual private server you're trying to play.

If that doesn't work, it could be either computer-based, such as a Firewall issue, or a missing file on their part, in which case, I'd suggest using their forums.

Another issue is some servers don't configure the patcher to run the game exe they are using. its annoying but all you need to do is launch from the game exe after patching.
