People say that they can run RO smoothly with netbooks(specially with acer aspire one) but how come my aspire one gets laggy when i run RO? do i need to do something before i run RO? help please

Triper

It also depends on the server[host place, ping, etc] and how the client is diff'd/server is setup.

I've no problems running RO at my old AMD Thurion 64 X2 TL-60 laptop but I already got into some servers where the admins are dumb and refuse to change things because the exe is buggy and doesn't run as supposed *points to memory leaks and eating resources that aren't supposed to eat*.

RO is an old game, you shouldn't have any prob running it unless is something >10-12 years old.

If you think it's the server, windows button=>type CMD at search box=>press enter=>type ping ip[substitute the ip for the server ip or the url] and see if it's <250ms, if it's >250ms, expect lag. Anything >300ms can give you dcs and 1-2 secs lags.

If you get packet loss during it, then something is making you not having a stable connection to the server being it from your ISP or just a node during the tons of connections to get to the server. You can see the source of the prob by ding CMD=>tracert ip[substitute the ip for the server ip or the url], a timeout = source of the prob. If it's the first or second nod[line] just ignore it, it's because you're using a hub/router and it's doing the usual pc->it connections.
As a solution/work around, some ISPs allow you to connect to some specific IPs through alternative routes if you ask them but it's not a thing present in all so it's up to you to try another server or play as it's.
You could always try some proxy systems to see if the ping gets lower, for some it works fine.
