Imposter OldRO

Not sure why there is a server with the name OLDRO trying to be us, but they need to go.

We even have a custom banner made for our server. We don't need some people trying to steal players from our server because they want to have the same name only capital letters. Not happening, it needs to be changed or removed, the GM's work very hard to make sure the players are happy and as a fellow player I don't want to see some poorly done website impersonating us.

I know for a fact that they used to not be OldRO. Since they have a thread here soliciting their other server name too.

We don't need people getting confused about our server being a low rate. OldRO is a Pre-renewal High Rate Server.

So you do not allow another server to use your server's name?  I don't see any similarity on the two servers website.  Sharing the same name, like humans, there is a chance it will happen.  Intentional or not.  If you really don't like it, you have to contact the other side to talk to them and see if they will do what you wish.

Concerning server listings, I think it is an issue. But, if there's no rule against it, I suppose there's nothing I can do about it?

Worry not. Servers with exactly that site layout typically die out within weeks. Not to mention the difference in mechanics, yours is 255/99 custom (?) and they're 99/50 old school, they shouldn't be much of a problem.

This is not related with the topic but, I've checked your website and I have bad news.

Your background image WEIGHS A LOT! (background.png).

It weighs 9,664 KBs (9.6MBs). It is a pain for your players to load your Website.

You would better change it to .jpg, it weighs only 276 KBs.

Plus, it will save a lot of bandwith.

And why would you pass the document object to the function? document is a property of window, which is always on the scope chain.

And why use an anonymous function? no variables are lexically scoped.

You don't have to. Over my past month of searching for a server, I've seen at least three different servers with this exact website, the only difference is the name. They use the same images, fonts and exact same colors! Typical servers that wouldn't last more than a couple of weeks, whether you wish them demise or not lol.

Well, that is one of the differences between .png and .jpg, that .png allows transparency.

But your webguy lies to you. You can put a white background on your main background and it looks perfectly fine. Look:

to give a bit of background, we don't do this for money, we do it for the spirit of a dead server, so it's not like we're scamming each other with nonsense. The dev of the cora system we use has been MIA for awhile, so we're kinda dead in the water for updates. But, if my webserver guy can learn and begin to develop for the website, then he will do so.

I appreciate the concern, but him and I have been friends through RO for like 7 years now, so it's not like we're just some random quacks.

I'll show him what you've just posted, and honestly, I appreciate the effort just to show me that. With how RO private servers are these days, random acts of kindness are rarely seen.

What's the point to have WOE with the so few population

It seems nothing will change in both camp, fake server are fake...

1. you already opened a cash shop ?? greedy retard
2. your website is a perfect example of "not doing thing"
3. wiki and database the hell you think you are ...
4. GTB 100% def magic ... woah .. ruined server
On Gravity's server, they can affort GTB reduce 100% magic because there is a very high population, so in WOE it won't matter you can tank magic damage because you won't tank anything else.
On low population, you can't let this card working at all, otherwise you simply cutting in half the game.

From my point of view, you don't know the game nor how to play competitive, so your thinking is based on feeling and whiners...
Anyway , good luck, experiences are always welcoming efforts.

Even small skirmishes can be fun-- of course, not on the same level as a full blown WoE, but still, fun.

If a big population was required to have WoE, there would be like 5 servers with WoE out there... and GvG is the only thing that is keeping this game alive.
