I just checked their forum and seems the staff is doing what they can about this hacker that pop'd up there. They even roll back'd the server some hours to clean some damage made.

Also, most people there are waiting for Yrvine to explain what happened. The admins have been silent since the server got hijacked and it's all the police's job to explain now.

Thats what happen when the server become big and gain massive population. Scammer here scammer there. Its normal in a big server and abouth the hack thing, might be the other smaller/dead server tried to destroy casero but it wont happen.

I wonder why do big server is always targetted by the hacker?

Btw, its being sorted out by the gms. And most of us, players of caseRO understood what happened, and we would help the server more instead of QQing. The server is gaining more population and many will try to bring it down.

Why do hackers target these servers? For the database access? Unlimited items? you name it. What is the point? Easy! to access your emails and paypals and probably selling items/zeny for real money. All these are the common reasons why they are being targeted.

First the big servers will be targeted and second they will go for a smaller servers because of the lack of knowledge on how to secure their servers. First of all these server owners they do not activate md5 encryption to provide their users a layer of protection even md5 encryption can be cracked easily at least it's not in plaintext.

What i hate most is these servers that created just to collect donations as i've seen recently after so long being away from RO scene, no server name mention here and i am sure many of us know which server it is. When their donation stop coming in they will move on to create a new server to get more donations. These owners are no better than the scammers/hackers. Hope this is not the case of this server and i've seen their website and forums they are doing quite well.

One thing though, after i read the link about the hackers, i did a little testing on my own on your sites and all i can say is you guys better get someone that knows how to manage the website and please!! please!! secure you user's data as the sql injection can read all your ids and passwords clearly.

Before any of you accuse me of being the hacker that hack you recently you better think carefully before you say anything cause i can be a help. Been there done that tried to help a server, being banned and called names or hate post about me to discredit me instead. I will say your forum is bugged. Another hint is check your forum's version and the exploits for that particular version that has been wildly distributed to the public. Good luck!

P/s: I always say this, if i can do it.. i'm sure 100 other's out there can do better. So if i manage to extract your dbs. You better be worry~

Don't use root as username for your sql login. If you don't use root, but still get hack, then get a new site, cause it probably got holes.

Also i urge anyone who wish to get a host please don't use *cough*python**st.**z*cough*. Symlink attack if you know what i mean (Other customers could read your configs vice versa). Oh can't access casero.. Hope they change the forum.

Well I have been playing Case RO for quite sometime and I have in general found the GMs to be very unprofessional and blatantly rude to players. Here is proof of GM Ultros banning me for no reason and then apologizing to me later on followed by some rude comments.

I had a player named "God of cRO". (cRO obviosuly meant Case Ragnarok online. Even oafs can figure that out)

GM Ultros banned my account and here is what he had to say about it.

Screen shot 1 - I ask him why I was banned

Screen shot 2 - I continue to ask him the same question.

Screen shot 3 - After a while, he replies "Its against the rules". To which I object because I had done nothing against the rules.

Screen shot 4 - Proves how dumb GM Ultros is (And believe me other GMs too, no wonder the server was hacked)

Screen shot 5 - He realizes how dumb he is and unblocks my account. I tell him that I will report him on forums.

Screen shot 6 - GM Ultros feeling cool saying to a player "go ahead and report me, I have people to help". CORRUPTION ALERT. Is this how professional GMs reply to players? And if he says he has people to help it means the server has biased owners and corruption. It was clearly his mistake and instead of politely apologizing and handling the situation he threatens me that he has "people to help".

To sum it up - A lot of people have already spent a good amount of money on this server as donation and the owners and GMs have time and again failed to respect players and handle the server well.

I really should not be replying to your screenshots that prove absolutely nothing and that does not show the whole side of the story, and honestly this is not the place to talk about it.

I said "I got other people to help," not "I got other people to help me" which means that I was answering other people's questions that they had about a recent incident going on (you would not know since you were so focused on yourself)
Anyways your screenshots does not prove anything or any signs of me being unprofessional, and rather shows how you got upset over a small mistake of mine.

If you have any other problem, make sure to post it on our server's forums and not in here.

I got so angry by reading about your attitude from the screenie and if you have a brain or at least some education you could have tell, those sceenie isn't showing how unprofessional a GM is but how a cry baby would be, it's like tapping into the eye of a cry baby. GET OVER IT!

I feel sorry for those GM that have to deal with idiots like this.

Edit: "I got other people to help" referring that there are others that need that GM's help from the first read. How the idiot got it as a backup for a fight i have no idea.

Anyway, the GM was polite enough to unblock the account.
Using such a name is not without a risk because several servers can claim the name cRO.
This choice is the responsibility of the player and he is lucky to get away with it so far.

This is not the place to talk about it but we're investigating on how we can prevent issues like this before focusing on some other things. (as important as they may be.) We ask the players of caseRO to bear with us while we do our best to investigate and make sure your playing experience is not affected by things like this.

It's an old trick that if you put enough spaces in a default size chatbox, the next text that you write will appear on the next line as if it was someone ele typing (or if you pressed enter)

Well, guessing by the previous comments.. there was truly a scammer/hacker on the loose when this thread was made, but one thing really puzzles me here. Why can the OP clearly be seen trying to impersonate the GM himself on the 3rd screenshot? I'd love an explanation from the OP regarding this.

@iostream007 - I'll agree that the ban seemed to be an error on the GMs part, but he quickly lifted it once he realised his mistake. Yet, you decide to start insulting him for doing it, and you have the nerve to accuse him of being rude? Sorry buddy, the only rude person shown in those screenshots is yourself. People make mistakes, it's not unprofessional, it's called being human.

I am sorry to hear about the forums/website being hacked though, I hope they're able to recover from this.

Call me racist, but it's the typical Pinoy doing right here. Every case I've seen like this were done either by Andi (which is mostly the person behind the case) or some Pinoys.

They got new forum now, but at the cost of loss of the user database and the valuable posts.

I just noticed the third pic now and checked the previous ones more careful. Now I hate myself for just making a tl;dr and search case-ro and what was happening there ... I feel bad about those players now :| I hope the server can survive after this mess.

Also, am I wrong or this isn't their first attempt? I remember something similar somewhere.

Player Hall of Shame section/topic, sometimes I wonder about it because of what GMs have to deal with ...

There are too many scammers like this in every server. It is easier for the owner and GMs to put a disclaimer in red when they are registering for an account or hourly reminder about the staff will never request for personal informations. The owner or developer however should create a command that they can use to verify them as a GM or using @recall as a verification and also include a small disclaimer that the GM will act on the scammer when reported but proceed to play with in the server with caution. Let the players know that they have the right to request for the verification if the GM wanted some info from their players (Like you have the rights to ask for the cop's badge when they stop you).

When you put your player's security first, they will keep coming. I see casero have a seperate domain for their forums and i hope it's on other server to isolate the website and the forums. I'm beginning to think that this server has it's potential. Keep it up guys.

yeah the server survived and the player peak is still the same. but they had a huge updates and we have to download the new client. i saw 280 being online with a few vendors.
