Problem with Whitesmith

I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen or not but every time my whitesmith attacks, pop-ups appear. Either monster property or item appraisal if I have something on me. Also during my attacks, my character always uses "Pick Stone" which I'm not even sure I'm supposed to have. So could someone give me some insight on this issue.
