Clearly they did, the server had like 1000 log-ins (not autotraders) at one point I think?   
I do wonder what exactly caused the collapse of the server though, considering the amount of content it has to keep people engaged. Every time I ask people who played there it's just something along the lines of "Charlie is a fkn retard, i want to stab him to death (in minecraft)" but no specifics.

This is probably in regards to spontaneous changes, which probably the vast majority didn't agree with, but as long as the few discord goers agree, everything is fine. I think it was just a lack of communication between the players (the actual players, not your favorite 3) and the staff. There's also really like one place to level efficiently, and you're locked into it until nameless/thor is available to you, but even then, the parties would be mild in those locations and people just leveled in kitty candy land. Unfortunately, that area was customized for geared players to abuse, so new players had no idea how to approach the dungeon, nor could they ask about it on main. (level 50 base to talk on main)

If you just read that, you can already see so many problems, just colliding into each other like bumper cars. It's strangely not a newbie friendly experience, at all. Sure, the game provides you with some gear, but once you're free, you hit a wall, and another one, and another one, until you just go back the way you came. Playing other servers.

Regardless, to me, the defintion of P2W only means "paying for something that gives you an advantage, that otherwise cannot be acquired". Period. These salty donkey arguments are never going to change my mind about it. I can only come to the conclusion that people changed the definition because they're jealous/salty about other people having money. I've never spent any money at all on RO ever in my 20 years of playing, but I don't have this kind of whiny attitude.

1. Plays TalonRO, the most quintessential "ooga ooga me pay for MVP cards to be a supersaiyan" pay2win server in history.

2. Seems to have a PHD in how everything is not p2w and proudly proclaims how no argument can change his mind

3. Has a complete meltdown because someone called something p2w

4. Believes only rich gigachad CEO's ever p2w, and totally never complete losers who have no control of their life (cough gacha games made for waifutards cough)

Uhh yeah you definitely strike me as a guy who never wipped out mom's credit card for anything.

Exactly.

Nobody complains about cash shop. If servers want to to sustain the project through donations, that's fine, but put them untradeable.

People complain about anything on cashshop being tradeable, because that means you could literally start playing a 10 years old server and within 10 minutes become the richest player in the server, if you have the money (or are simply stupid enough to support greedy pigs like p2w server owners).

Any server allowing direct or indirect exchange of real-world money to tradeable currency or zeny is p2w. It's basically am official RMT done by the server itself.

Using the excuse "but you can acquire it ingame too!!!" is the stupidest thing ever because it's totally the same thing taking hours/days/years to acquire something some rich/stupid kid could get in seconds, right?

Bro, are you that pressed that other people spend money instead of time? It's practically the Dead Sea up in this b.

Do you also get angry when other people pay to get in the "fast" lines at Disneyland? Or get upset at some guy who has a lot of money and bought the shoes you wanted, that you were saving up money to get? I mean, damn. That's just so ridiculous.

Once again, as I predicted, [GM]Skadi got kicked/left the staff. After Rebelo/Loki left/got kicked, Skadi started issuing bans and mutes to ANYONE sh*t talking Rebelo/Loki (despite him taunting people nonstop since he left/got kicked the staff), but eventually she left/got kicked as well. [GM]Yuuf returned to the staff the same day she (and Rebelo/Loki) left. Rebelo/Loki also left the Discord server because literally EVERYONE in the server was nonstop trash talking him and the same happened [GM]Skadi/Peach the minute after she left/got kicked from the staff.


Here is a video about the OCA dupe abuse and the overall situation of the server (tldr: the market is OVER SATURATED with duped items, cards, extremely rare cards, miniboss/MVP cards and zeny):

If you want to know more about it/dig deeper, one way is to directly contact the duper and ask him what happened. The exploit was known since the first Beta and an specific guild was aware of it but instead of duping it themselves knowing that would eventually get them permanently banned, they hinted/tipped off a small group of players about this so they could abuse it to benefit them (they were the ones directly buying all the good and rare cards), and after a few weeks they decided to report the duper to come out heroes of the situation.[/b]

Reminder that THERE WASN'T WIPE OR ROLLBACK. Everything generated through the dupings are all still in the server, including the thousands of cards the duper supplied to the server, hundreds of the good ones being to the group who found the dupe and indirectly abused it, all unpunished.

To ask questions, to communicate, to laugh, to cry, to complain, to praise, to offer advice, to ask for advice, to bond, to understand the demographic, and most importantly, to feel like I'm not playing alone. If you can't understand this, then why are you even playing an mmo?

1. Isn't it better to host a MediaWiki based wiki instead of Fandom? (didn't even Minecraft and Hollow Knight's communities asked people to stop going to Fandom?) IIRC the ads and the layout itself is not good.

2. Is this the same project that have been around like 3~4 times?

1. I'm going to host it myself eventually, right now I'm just getting the content back to what it was then I'm going to restore the website and MediaWiki.

2. Yep, but it's back now. I'm working on it on a reduced basis now, but I'll be working on it myself and with everyone else I can. I understand the hesitation, cheers for the reply both

I wasn't aware of the criticisms of Fandom, sure, I don't like the ads and everything either, I wasn't planning on keeping the content there forever.

Sad how it's 2023 and people are still using Fandom for wiki works.

Not only these. Oldschool Runescape, Path of Exile and Terraria are even bigger/better examples of communities working together to bring a better, more user-friendly wiki to the game they love, MediaWiki or others.

Uh I also had the same question after reading this topic because I remember seeing something about "Ragnarok Preservation Project" a few times few years ago.
