Quote from: Felione on Nov 29, 2023, 07:08 PMSee, you look at things through one angle, I look at things as a whole. You have a trivial time frame of things because you think people magically know everything, and it just takes 1 hour. Very displaced opinion, and just completely inconsiderate. Very narrowminded response, full of assumptions and just not worth reading the whole way. I'm sorry. Careful with your words, sweety, your server owner doesn't like when people throw walls of strong opinions which you brought forward. Not very helpful.
oh the irony...Answering all your cherry picking, by the way, that has been discussed countless times is narrowminded? As I said you have a weird interpretation of casual and no-newbie friendly to straight up laziness. Why mobs being challenging and having to do exploration makes the game hardcore but breaking your gear in regular ro no /hmm

Quote from: Metan on Yesterday at 07:02 PMMan, you're making a mountain out of a molehill. Even if we accept he's a bootlicker (I don't know nor care whether he is one indeed; it's for the sake of my argument), it doesn't transform him into an ambassador or anything like that. Way more often than not, people who fall into that label have little to no direct contact with the person they adore, like a man who praises the mighty volcano, towering from the far horizon; it's an archetype as old as time. Which means that when he says it's a casual server or whatever else he claims, and it turns out that his claims are not founded in reality (again, I don't care whether that's true), it's not a PR disaster, it doesn't mean he's part of some RtM internet defense force, it just means that as a player he's wrong. Not every server admin is Lord J. When you lash out like that, your points, some of which may have held some validity after some consideration, lose meaning.
I love how this devolved into "we are a cult" joke  /heh

Quote from: 2k2 on Nov 27, 2023, 07:42 PMReminder that THERE WASN'T WIPE OR ROLLBACK. Everything generated through the dupings are all still in the server, including the thousands of cards the duper supplied to the server, hundreds of the good ones being to the group who found the dupe and indirectly abused it, all unpunished.

Alright I finally got banned so,

https://imgur.com/a/jUSUu7o

The GM's never checked logs for any of the exploits. Not the first one that lead to a wipe, not the 2nd one that input thousands of cards into the economy, not the 3rd one that duped everyones vends and not the 4th one that allowed for duping any consumable. The 5th and 6th dupes that are available on the server will be handled the same way. That is far too many dupes for a server to have without it being intentional.

Some guilds/people simply have an infinite amount of zeny, consumables and gear on the server from all of the above. I myself fed ~600m into a single guild as a joke, just because I was curious if they would remove the zeny or they'd pretend it never existed, they did indeed ban me for reasons other than exploiting and are sticking to the "nothing happened" story. There has been 4 or 5 KNOWN exploits and proof of the economy being wrecked and they're still telling players that everything is fine.

As this is a few months old thread, I skipped most of it so forgive me if i'll bring redundant points.
I am xTinker on discord and currently playing the server.

Anyone, mainly Ornstein, 100% knows I like to voice my opinions even when not requested...  :-[

Honestly, the biggest issue with the server was that it was released with the motto "we value your time" and that it was meant to be "casual".
Which was simply not the case for a long time. I'd argue the "value your time" is somewhat true nowadays, being "casual"... hell no.

For starters there was way less information than nowadays regarding classes, you'd be going in blind and having to level a character to level 90~100 to finally reach it if you were from an Assassin/Rogue tree to even find out if you'd like your specialization.
Nowadays, you  have a lot of information, even starter guides for most classes, you can just ask people how things play out before even trying it or use the mythical search function.

Regarding drops it was mostly an issue at the start, a lot of equipment were MVP only, nowadays most MVP's have relics (imagine a Bloody Branch but it only spawns the specific MVP), and most MVP only equipments were added to mobs in said dungeon.

About class balance, honestly, even the original Ragnarok suffers from this issue, lets not go there too deep.
Lets just say each patch has its own meta classes, be it from Shadowgear reworks, skill rebalance, new gears..., etc.
This happens even on official or any game with constant patches, people generally shuffle to the current best thing.

Regarding mob balance...
I'm not even going to talk about Jorm Layer or Rachel Nightmare, as tldr. Only meta can do them efficiently.
Regarding everywhere else, if you gear for it, generally speaking every class can do all content.

---- somewhat offtopic, I guess?
Regarding Support classes on the server as someone who used to play Priest a lot. It has already been mentioned 'any' class can do it since we aren't locked to certain classes for "Heal".

But I personally, use Kingslayer and i'd argue can has access to a lot of supportive skills.
Access to Land Protector, Devotion, Auto Guard, Defender, Angelus, Auto Regen, Kyrie, damage amplifier(sneak attack or Bishop's Tax), among other things i'm sure i'm forgetting.
High base hp pool so you can even play it as a supportive tank.

Edit1:
Had not noticed Metan was one of the people replying in here, IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME DOOD

Quote from: ForgotMyOldAccount on Yesterday at 06:52 AMWhat are RMT tickets?

RMT, real money trading tickets. You can directly pay admins for in-game tickets you can sell for zeny, people that buy them can then give them back to the admins for 90% of the money you paid.

I honestly like the concept but as you can imagine, it attracts the "not good for a community" people like nothing else

Quote from: Sairek Ceareste on Nov 29, 2023, 10:44 PMSo basically a pump & dump?

Yes, this is the meta of mid rate server.
- Earn a maximum of money during 3-4 months.
- Provide no new contents.
- Wait before guilds get borred.
- Close server and restart with new name.
- Repeat the same steps everytime.

Quote from: junichiro on Nov 29, 2023, 11:17 PMThat's sad and a bit alarming.

Is there a way to know how to avoid this kind of server when they open a new one again? I do base my decisions on RMS reviews but this server had a bunch of really positive reviews when they started. I'm a bit reluctant now to join new servers.

As a server owner myself I always refused the idea to have a cash shop or p2w system.
I can even say my server is more stable than 99% of mid rate server even if they have more players than me.
One day, I've even been insulted because a player liked my server and I refused his donations to support the server.
I can only advise you to avoid this kind of server. Unless that's what you're looking for.

Quote from: everythingjuls on Yesterday at 12:20 AMBased on my exp, this is true. It has been like this for almost a decade. WoE Guilds will keep repeating this cycle. Servers with high population don't last because WoE Guilds controls the majority of the population of the server even they put a prize money. Also, Classic/Trans server been there for long long years. Players already know what they need to do at a faster rate. WoE Guilds will keep hopping servers wherever the money is (that is why some servers create a money bait (ex. prize pool for the guild of the month etc.). No WoE Guilds = Server Dead eventually

This is sad but true.

Try to get information on who the owner or the people running the server are. Many people have already mentioned that the owner of this server is the same as the previous Space RO.

They said that the server closed because their developer ran away with the money or something similar. In my opinion, a server owner won't close a server unless there are fewer than 10 players still playing on that server. A server owner looking for a long-term running server will keep the server running even if it costs him money. That's exactly what you can find in most long-term running servers.

It's hard to trust reviews, especially for a new server. Some servers usually pay for advertisers and streamers. Most of these streamers, advertisers, and followers are the ones who usually give these reviews. So, it's really hard to get the real status of the server from positive reviews. In fact, you are better off believing negative reviews unless they come from players who got banned on that particular server. If they didn't get banned and it's a negative review, usually those reviews are truthful.

Yeah, the data was archived. This time it will be different, I have different priorities so I won't be spending as much time on the project, but I wouldn't have restarted it if I didn't wanna continue it. I understood that coming back I'd face that kind of response, but even knowing that I restarted it anyway. If you feel you wouldn't want to come back, I understand and apologise for the past that has led to that.

It'll be different this time mainly because I want to make amends and make this a truly community-led thing so it's not just me. I have a lot of affection for all of the communities in the RO private world and I want to preserve its history because of that affection.

Now, a question. I remember some people talking about the preservation project and how the discord server was killed once (or twice?) before. They stopped caring about it due to this; and this same situation deters me for even checking.

Will this time be different? Was the data archived?

There are definitely some issues I've also noticed with fandom, there are lots of invasive ads that make it impossible to see the content sometimes. I've spoken with the people at Miraheze and if they accept our request we'll move our content there, where it's ad-free and easier to view without all of fandom's...stuff in the way.
