Taken from the forum itself, it must be the reason why they are spamming on other servers, but anyone that falls for that is pretty silly and should be brought to a road to get shot on their head.

To the ones who missed it, LiteX is right about the server overall, love-or-quit, and the worse, bluedrops probably think he is some kind of a king in his miniature kingdom, probably the server will die, or he will keep it alive with his money till he get pissed off of no donations.

It looks like he is trying to find loopholes and bypass certain rules...
If a player is doing that, he should get a life, but this situation is pretty much the worst spam ive ever seen,
I wouldn't worry about the players joined thing, he may be lieing and trying to make your worry more, Now about this mass-ad event and DSlite event, i'm pretty sure that the DS one is fake like Pre-RO's iPod nano thing, and the mass-ad is proberly something to hide the admin's doing (Which IMO doesn't do anything at all, because this "event"
just shows that the players are the admin's puppets, and the puppeteer's personality passes on to the puppets)

@Dauphine: DDoS attacks are illegal, you can get him in hot water with his country's law system if he really DDoS your server

I actually doubt he can DDoS our server, but the point is, the convo did kind of make it show that he WAS behind the spamming. I still am waiting to contact my admins for the exact details, right now all I know is what one of our GMs told me about whole convo in a few lines...

Let him DDoS you, I will make sure his server goes down and never comes back up.

You guys totally reminded me of something. I messaged messRO on these very forums, in regards to taking down what they had copied originally. Heck, they even had "Aegis 10.5" on their website for quite some time. This is what I was greeted with there after.



Then I responded with something of which I don't quite remember what I had stated previously. However, messRO then told me they would be contacting me shortly. By contacting me shortly, I guess he meant he would be creating a new server and copying the same stuff again.

Thankfully we have very capable admins who can f*** him over if he even tries to. I think he got that message some days ago when he talked to them, but still, he went too far, apparently, again.

Has it been always like that or only started when the ad spam started?

Edit: Also, note that Meep put that recruitment thing AFTER we reported the spam advertisement.  It's more than likely a cover for what's been going on.  He also mentions that players should not spam advertise on other servers, but if that's really a rule, how is he enforcing it?  By banning people who are complaining about it, instead of following through on his own rules?

I also hear he has a past of not giving people the prizes he promises.  This guy just screams corruption all over.

Edit2: yC, why do you need to know?  Do we need to spell it out for you?  HOW MUCH MORE PROOF DO YOU NEED.  I don't even know how to begin proving when a website started redirecting, but it DOESN'T MATTER.  EVERY SINGLE SIGN points to the fact that it's Meep, and I don't know if he's paying you to keep your head up your donkey and pretend like you can't see the obvious, but he sure is dancing around it.  I know by removing his server from the listing, THEN you'll get a response from him on this s***, but until then, he sure is taking advantage of this.

Don't mean to get so condescending and vulgar, but for Chrissake, WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT.  What Dauphine has posted that Meep is resulting to is seriously uncalled for.  Put an end to this.

This thread has gone on for five pages now. How many post does it usually take for the admin to figure out they are talking sh** about there server and a flame war starts when they begin to defend themselves? You know someone on the server is active on the forums since they have already ADVERTISED their server ON THE FORUM.

For people to go out of their way to post a bad review, there has to be a reason which is either:

• Griefing
• Grudging
• They have been effected enough by the game play TO make a review

The guy isn't defending himself because it's the truth. There are too many people and screen shots for this to be griefing. And if all of these people had a reason to downvote the server because of something outside of his actions/the server, the admin and users would also be on the forums in droves defending themselves.

Okay, I don't know why anyone is trying to prove anything to me instead of everyone watching the topic.  If you read the Terms of Services for server, please pick out a line that would cause suspension to server that advertise on other server.  I really can't find it I am sorry but I thought that's clear in the first place.  I also cannot relate the fact that if their RMS listing is taken down mean the spam will stop.  It's not like I have control over the spam bots -.-  I am powerless on this issue.  It is an issue between Rebirth RO and Gloomy RO.  As much as RMS want to be the server police, we don't have the power to tell anyone to stop spamming ads.

My involvement in this topic is out of my personal interest in the case and I am just trying to help and stop the spam within my personal reach without doing anything that will break my own rules.  I emailed the person registered the gloomy ro listing, let him/her know the existent of this topic.  I cannot force anyone to respond, I am just anyone reading this topic.

I know the person that replied my email was called  BlueDrops.  He/she mentioned that they (the staff of the server) are not behind the spam.  I believe it or not isn't going to stop the spam.  I don't follow some details of the topic.  GM Meep = rebirth ro gm Akera from 1.5 + x yrs ago.  What that means ... what that relates to Gloomy .. maybe i missed some details ...

Ailinea I carefully examined your screenshot yesterday and there were no dates.  I can only see "yesterday" so that could be anything.  I have my reason to ask for the redirection, it could potentially let me put their listing down for investigation only.  Because really there is no rule that says you cannot spam other server with your server URL.  That's why this topic is in hall of shame and not in server report section.

It was just a general question, I don't mean to ask it in a way that you think I am trying to get more proof.    Sorry about that.

If you search the forums of gloomyRO, I believe, you will see one of the GMs (BlueDrops or Pineapple) was MessROs GM Meep.
The spam claims that Meep, the founder of MessRO/gloomyRO, was a GM on RebirthRO, and now made his/her own server.
Sooooo.
If Meep is actually saying he was a GM, which he was NOT, his lies is actually conformable with the lies in the spam, which seems suspicious.

Ryowyn is right.  It goes with a previous post I made about Meep spamming RebirthRO last year or so for MessRO claiming he was an ex-GM.  The screenshot was proof that Meep himself was claiming to be an ex-GM (whom never existed on Rebirth).  Again, in the spam on our server, he is claiming to be an ex-GM.  I don't see how some random player new to his server would pull the exact same stunt.  The date doesn't matter, look at the forum URL, it's messro.com and the root admin replied.

yC: I apologize for misunderstanding you.  By showing your interest, I thought you were actually going to do something about it.  I'm glad you took personal interest in it, but I thought that you were actually investigating it so you could do something.  The only reason we came to you is because you're an outside source that can actually do something about this beyond what we can do.  We HAVE tried to resolve this through GloomyRO, and you have seen from several of us how completely useless and counter-productive that was.  RMS has the ability to remove a server from its listing, which can severely impact a new server that's trying to garner more players (especially when they fabricate reviews that may or may not be true or the same person. but I digress).  In your personal interest, I thought you might actually help us out.  You help other servers when people post negative reviews that are in spite or completely stupid against other servers (even if it beyond the ToS sometimes).  This IS your site, after all, and you do have the ability to do what you see as necessary.  Guess I was hoping for some help, but I totally understand that it's beyond your ability to do so.  Thanks anyway... I guess.   Glad that you at least um... entertained us.

Yikes!

As of April 28th, 2009, I am the new owner/System Admin of GloomyRO.com/Messro.com.  I have seen the claims by other users and I have also been informed of the rapant advertising the previous owner did on other servers.  With that being said i worked with Genesis from ForsakenRO to remove all website rips etc, that were being used on GloomyRO as well as made a post on our forums informing our users to not ever advertise on others forums.  Please feel free to contact me(GM Ziran) if this is still occuring as I would like to work with you to determine if any new user of GloomyRO is doing the advertising.

I am trying to fix and or re-establish a clean name for GloomyRO if at all possible.

Being a friend of Dave's I've heard about the new direction Gloomy has taken, and am quite pleased with it.  I wish you the best of luck as so far already your server seems to be winning the hearts of the players!  Keep up the good work. We haven't had any problems with Meep lately, so I think it's going to be alright, at least until he opens up another server.  xD
