War of Emperium - Strategy Guide

Since I don't play anymore I thought I should pass on the knowledge of the minstrel/clown class and strategic defenses we used in WoE and what kept us the number 1 guild on the server for months.

For PvP and WoE a minstrel gypsy combo is the key for a strategic defense and can make an emperium room literally impossible to get through. This guide will explain how.

Skills and their meanings: (you will see these mentioned a lot as you read)
• poem of baragi - decreases the casting time of everyone in the spell's radius by 30% and increases depending on the amount of INT the bard/minstrel has.
 • lokis veil - anyone inside the spell's radius cannot cast spells
 • blessing of freedom - the caster of the song is allowed to move and cast spells within the song's range
 • tank - a player that takes the brunt of the damage
 • sac - skill a paladin uses to protect a party member by taking all of the damage inflicted on that party member
Since Kriemhild castle's  flag is in the center of Prontera it has become a status symbol for the number 1 guilds on this server. Therefore, I will be discussing the strategy on defending this castle.

What we used was 3 minstrels and 2 gypsys. Since finding good gypsys was hard for us at the time we had people duel client a gypsy with max job (max level is NOT needed, I will explain later). You will need to use 2 minstrels and 2 gypsys for a double loki's veil on the stairway leading up to the emp. The third (either bard or minstrel, high level not required) stands at the top where the ranged casters are against the railing. With this defense guilds rushing the castle would be lucky to get past the first 5 steps going to the emp. This defense also held against 7 FULL guilds using a joint effort to take us down, that's how powerful this is.

Breakdown on the setup:

We used a duel lokis veil on the stairway to prevent any attackers from casting spells. The reason why we used two is because sometimes a sac paladin and max level minstrel tanking wasn't enough to prevent damage, which means the veil would go down. Having two veils ensures that if your front defense goes down you will have a backup right behind.

When using the duel lokis make sure to leave a 1 cell casting gap where you can put a sac paladin, a combination of grimtooth sinx's and bowling bash LK's. If attackers seem to bypass the first loki's then they will have to fight your frontal force of damage that they will have to go through (or at least try). If they manage to get through that then they have the joy of going through a second lokis while still undergoing heavy ranged damage from wizards, ninjas, snipers, and your asura champions.

Also, placement is key, in the diagram above the 1st lokis is right where the oncoming attackers will spawn after going through the portal. Moving it back a cell will allow the attackers to use skills which defeats the entire purpose of this strat.

From a bard/minstrel's view:

Since i created this strategy and was the only 255 minstrel we had I was taking the majority of the damage in front. I put my stats purely into AGI & LUK so that I would be able to avoid the majority of mele damage (the only kind of damage you will be taking). I also had a sac paladin protecting me to stop asura noobs and EDP sinXs from trying to 1 shot me. DO NOT STACK STAM, weapons with the thanatos card will rape you.

Another secret I used was creating a resistance set to shadow damage. Since the emp is holy property, tons of people will use converters like cursed water on their weapons so they can maximize their damage to the emp. So! If you are wearing a shadow resist set and they are using cursed water they CANNOT DO ANY DAMAGE to you at all. Keep in mind you will need donates to do this and you will take twice the amount of normal damage if someone uses a counter like holy warm wind.

For my weapon I used a [4] Violin with 1 whitesmith card (has a chance to break the opponents weapon), 2 lunatic cards (+LUK), and 1 valkyrie card(your weapon cannot be broken) in that order. I also kept a dagger/knife on me at all times. When on the move dagger swapping is key to making a hasty rush on castles or corpse running back to get on defense.

Dagger swapping:

Staying with your group is very necessary to optimize your potential as a minstrel/gypsy. As you may already know, when playing a song your movement speed is reduced by 50% and it is difficult to keep up with the group. However, what most people don't know is that after a song is canceled the players that were inside the song still have the effect from it for 15 seconds. So, what dagger swapping does is quickly cancels your song (with no mana/sp cost) and you can move at regular walking speed to stay with your group.

So, say you were rushing a castle and only had one bard/minstrel with you and want both poem of baragi and apple of ildune(increases the health of everyone in the area)... All you need to do is cast apple of ildune, equip your knife, equip your violin, and cast poem of baragi. The reason why I cast apple of ildune first is so that the healers have time to quickly heal the emp breakers to max hp before the 15 sec duration goes out and still have the effect of poem of baragin going at the same time.

Member shortage:

Have a member shortage and can't get the required max level minstrel/gypsy combo? No problem, here is another secret that left our opponents dumbfounded. There is nothing like rushing into an emp room and only seeing a minstrel casting lokis veil with no gypsy.

What you do is this:
• Get both your gypsy and minstrel to stand next to each other and have the lower level of the pair cast lokis veil.
 • The person that began the song uses the skill longing for freedom and moves to the back corner of the song.
 • Equip a smokey clip and cast hiding.
This works extremely well because the attackers will not see your weak link and focus on the stronger of the pair. Keep in mind while you are using blessing of freedom you cannot leave the song or the song will be canceled and you will have to set up again. Also, if someone has a sight clip and manages to get close enough to your weaker partner they will be seen and will need to re-hide.

Nice guide the picture is extremely useful.

But i think somethings wrong with your fonts and quotes or something?

I suggest not leaving loopholes around.

Enemy profs spamming Land Prot will rape your Loki's.

It could be further improved by a lot. I'll give you a few clues; Slow Grace, Quagmire, Safety Wall, Traps.

Dagger swapping is nowhere near as good as having two of the same weapons to rebuff songs even faster. Having the Gypsy hidden should be common knowledge anywhere, in fact you can make it so that both the Gypsy and Minstrel are hidden from view. This will however be easily countered with an Alarm card; which autocasts Sight.

Not a bad guide overall, but definitely not the best at what it's trying to do.

XileRo is the only HR I know that has a reasonable PvP system. I did watch the RWC like you said, all I see is people spamming the room like every other gang fight there is in RO.

Melanee

Ahh, alright. Ill fix those problems, see if they actually work out in real combat ^.^

ahh this seems to be perfect to be posted on write.ratemyserver.net or you can just copy it over if you haven't.

i didnt read much by nice picture.

I'm not trying to be a bastard, but there are in fact many more higher quality guides than those common ones you can find out there. The only problem is that these are exclusive WoE guides written by huge guilds/alliances on official servers, for personal use only.

I happen to have read through some, and yeah, they are in a totally different class. Thus, I just want to say that, you know all those common guides out there? Take them with a pinch of salt, especially if you go up against RO veterans.

I am a verteran though. ): And my guild seems to pull it off on a server with 1k+ ppl and werarly lose the caslte

Your guide is not bad already, just that not many average guilds will have the individual talents and discipline to break through that defence, but you have to realise the top alliances on official servers alone are already larger than a 1k+ pop server. I'm assuming that 1k+ includes vendors btw.

I have even heard of a single guild having 7-9 sub guilds. Which means that single guild alone has what? 500+ players? We're talking about guilds here, not even alliances. That obviously is in the past though, when RO was at its prime.

Some guilds have even been together for 5 years, after 5 years just imagine how much chemistry and discipline they have between each other. Also, top official server guilds actually utilize GUILD MANAGEMENT. I seriously doubt any average guild would actually have guild management. Meaning, there are guild leaders, party leaders, assistant party leaders, ecallers, they do up job rosters and strategies for every WOE, they record down attendance for each WOE, yadayada.
