Anybody know the background story on Bongun? I'm curious and he randomly mentions Balder and that his family owns all the pines in Payon. It'd be great if anyone would share the story... ???

Emeralda

It's all in the anime. I won't mention it cause it would be a spoiler.

yC

it's in the anime? how come i dont remember ... i remember there is a part about payon cave .. there was a story?

Emeralda

Bonguns and Munaks (I don't remember those names exactly now) were loyal followers of princess Sohee who died (I don't remember how exactly) and now those are their spirits who wander around the old Payon town (or something like that).

Rbread

Yeah, and that's why there are twenty thousand bonguns, thirty thousand munaks and only five thousand Sohee's.  Makes a lot of sense for Gravity to come up with a bs story for this game.

Emeralda

Maybe they all had split personalities during their lives and after their death they all split resulting in such numbers? It's something on Gravities creativity level~

nigaichi

Okay. So they were like servants? Then who's this guy Hyegun?

Emeralda

A new addition that will be introduced in the second season of RtA?

nigaichi

So confused. @_@ Sorry about all this. I'm kind of a newb. (Only been playing for 2-3 weeks) I hope I'm not being too much of a bother.

Emeralda

Nah. Noone really pays attention to the in-game story. We were kinda discussing the anime aspects of the plot and making out funny stuff here.

yC

now that someone mention it, i am interested in the in-game story ...

like when i read that in eps 11.3 king tristan III died, i suddenly realize OH THERE IS A STORY IN GAME haha and what is it? still remind a mystery to me, all i did for the most time was kill kill kill run run run XD

Hahahaha Guess no one really knows the real scoop. I should check out the anime then. But I guess in the meantime people can post their suspicions here.

Quote from: WikipediaPayon Cave is also the Old Payon City that was destroyed many years ago. The Old Payon City was destroyed by fire, war and famine. The Munaks, Bonguns, Sohee were once people of the Old Payon City. It is speculated that the reason why the aforementioned monsters are so aggressive is because Moonlight Flower disturbs their souls and will not let them sleep in peace. Although this information is not accessed in the game, it is seen in Gravity's Ragnarok The Animation.

yC

damn now i want to have the RO story from the beginning and put on somewhere share it with the ppl so the new comers wont be like me who just kill kill kill run run run all day ...

Emeralda

Well, all Korean MMORPGs are like that. They don't need any story cause noone pays attention to it. It's just a grindfest.

nigaichi

Kinda sad that that's the case. All games should have a plot... Personally just killing is not enough. I need substance. That's my 2 cents at least.

Glenn

I kill. The end. I don't read what npcs say, they're useless! Haha.

Dais

well i also never read what the NPC says.
but if i wanted to knoe bout the story i open wiki or watch the mov

Emeralda

Nope. It's just Dais using really poor grammar, especially the choice of vocabulary. There is only the serie which totally sucked.

MarluxiaXI

Well, i thought bongun has a crush on munak. ;D.see his cards and taming items.. :P
Sympathy is for the weak minded.....

Rbread

Gravity never made a story that makes sense.  They only threw a plot together to relate to each of their new updates.  The whole Ragnarok Online Anime goes off in its own direction as a whole.  It's like piecing together pieces of wrong puzzles.

I assumed the same.  I thought Bongun and Munak and Hyegun were in a love triangle.  Never knew Sohee had anything to do with it, I guess I just ignored the dialog in Ragnarok: The Animation or skipped over it when it dragged out.  Sohee is one of my favorite pets in the official game, but I have to say that none of it really made any sense.  Somewhere a cloning machine must have been involved though.

Dose Moonlight Flower have anything to do with the Anime?
or dose she just wonder around payon cave floor 5 :P
