Hi! ^^ I'm from spain so my english is a bit bad... here is my quiestion:

I was looking for information about refining, and all I found is that refining a weapong increases its attack. The point is, ¿the attack of a weapon (for example, rods and staffs) increases the magick atack? If not... ¿why refining staffs and rods?

Thank you ^^

Kaezar

It doesn't increase magic attack, so no point refining staffs/rods unless you want to whack things with it, or you want to reach certain bonuses from refining specific staffs/rods (Staff of Piercing, Lich's Bone Wand, etc).

Yeah, a weapon's element (a rod/staff class weapon in this case) only matters when you are physically using that Rod to smack enemies while MATK is based on raw INT+%MATK specified on whatever rod/staff you're using.

Rod - 15% MATK

Lich's Bone Wand - 20% MATK - Although it's Undead property, it won't effect your magical damage at all.  There is also a bonus given on this rod, if you refine it to +9 or +10 you get an extra 3% MATK and a higher chance to Curse an enemy who is physically attacking you.

Staff of Piercing - Refining this will make this staff ignore more of your enemy's MDEF.

Staff of Destruction - 25% MATK - This staff is also worth refining if you are a High Wizard because at refine rates 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10, the staff's MATK goes up by 1%, and a chance to auto-cast level 5 Jupitel Thunder when being attacked physically increases by refine rate as well.

Survivor's Rod - If used with a Survivor's Manteau, refining it will increase MATK and resistance to Neutral property attacks.

If the rod or staff doesn't say in the description that it gives bonuses for refining, it won't have any other effects besides a bit of ATK when using it to melee.
