Well alliances are part of Woe.. and If they 'team' it unlikely that both guilds will proceed, unless they trade off the castle..

As a second alternative to the time system.. perhaps some sort of point system. 1 point for taking the castle, 1 point every 2 mins held, 5 points for having it when woe ends. Something like that, not neccisarily exact, possibly more point fields(ie. extra points at mutiples of 10 mins, -if they get that far-).

Do it in brackets(depends on number of guilds entered) like if there were 100 guilds, 5 brackets of 20 guilds, 5 castles. Top 5 in each bracket move to the finals.

In response to slaw, I think that issue is less the championship's fault rather than the server's limitations.

Think about it, say 20 people per guild proceed to the next round across the board. You say that a good prof in a 2k server might be better than the best prof in a 50 server, but there's also a downside to that. The 50 server has very little to choose from, but the 2k server has a whole LOT to choose from.

What I mean to say is, if you're talking about the fairness at each server's level, its about the same really. Or at least, it trades off in the end.

Slaw

I believe a championship like this shouldn't be between servers, it should be between players. Hence I think it's stupid to let the servers themselves decide on their contestants and so forth. I'd rather just see people joining in with their teams, and having qualification rounds to pick the best ones.

Flip

Well it is between players? How would you think the server would choose their contestants in the first place? Wont players within that server try their luck and go into their own qualifying rounds to become the server's representatives?

See, this is what I meant by admin discretion. First of all, not every server is large enough to afford an event as big as a qualifying round in their server to determine their contestants. So, they could opt for a smaller event, or even to have the community simply decide on their representatives. It's their call.

However, for larger servers, its almost required that there be some competition for it, since the server is filled with so much talent. The admin/gm team of that server would decide on how to pick their team, be it either via event or otherwise. It's their call here also.

So you see, it is really between the players and gms of each server on who gets to represent the server. That way, there's no illegitimate bias on how to decide the representatives, since the decision making was done internally and purely by the respective server. MEANING, the other servers do not get involved in the selection process.

Moreover, commenting on your suggestion, that would favor larger servers more since they can afford to send much more players/teams to compete than small ones could.

One server = One team representative is the way to go IMO.

Well conciously playing on other servers, I've noticed the best single players don't always work well together. I think letting ANY guild in would be better, and just call it a Guild Championship, not a server championship.

Like players might not speak the same language, or not be reliable, or not listen to orders(who would order o_O) I think your better off letting players make guilds, so they know who their with, a group of friends would probably do better then a group of 'the best' people simply because they other people are trying to show off, thinking thier 'too good'. A server I was on was like Half BRs and the Other half english speakers. Each side had good people, but simply squashing the two guilds together witht he best from each side won't work.

I'd say just make it a guild championship, no (server) strings attached.

But this thread was about a server vs server in the first place ^_^; Although I do understand the players on big servers wanting to participate regardless if chosen by their admins or not.

QuoteWell conciously playing on other servers, I've noticed the best single players don't always work well together
I fully agree, but then that's part of the challenge too, the admin has to assemble a good team from their server, choose wisely about what works with what and perhaps train them accordingly, selecting the proper leader too. How each server would select their team would be up to them. In the end the result would probably show for it.

Well in that Regard Pandora, what about th epeople who would just want to enter for fun, but the admin didn't pick them because they don't speak English or whatnot.

I mean I think the main idea was for players to have fun, and sorta have something to work for, not to really have servers go at it.

how come i didnt know this thread is for server vs server ...

yea i think admin pick destroy fun ... who care how many people joined we can just eliminate them with a few round of woe and pick those that win who go into the gvg competition

Slaw

Great, then it isn't server vs server? If not, I'd totally go for a free signup. Only letting one team per server in is, as stated before, unfair to alot of players.

Flip

Lol, then if its not a server vs server then consider myself overulled :p

Slaw

Indeed. The topic is, after all "Discuss the possibility of: Ragnarok Online (Private Server) Championship xD". Doesn't say it's supposed to be server vs server. :< I really don't get where people got that from.

Transcend

id stick with this idea
Free signup each person who registers get s a lvl 99 char with no equips
let them gather equips for a determined period then go onto the smart stuff :)
CAUSE WHO TELLS U THAT THE ADMINS ARE NOT GONNA GIVE WEIRD GOD STUFF TO THE PLAYERS D:

Pandora

I was under that impression that it was server vs server actually from the title/first post, my bad xD Apologies!

I was meerly under the impression of it being a guild vs guild competition, of private server guilds.

Either way, I still think it would be a great thing. Give people a reason to train all day; to become the best. It would kind of give more of a reason to play. Have it like yearly.. that would be sweet.

Then make a Guild Recruitment board haha. I'm just thinking out loud.
