Exactly what CaseRO says, you'll learn a lot in the process of building it. But not only that, you'll also know the server from the inside and out
because you're the one making every change. If a highly customized server is being sold to some outsider and players start asking questions to him/her, he/she will either leave the player with a incorrect answer, or with a "Err, ask the old/other admin".
I've faced the same issue with hiring GMs through RMS. Most of the time, they don't even know 20% of the servers' features which can leave a really bad impression towards the players.
