If you have a problem when launching your executable and it ends showing like this:

Then you've a problem with your RO. Here are some possible solutions:

  • Open the Setup.exe in your RO folder and see if it detects your graphic card and if you've options to change there.

If nothing happens after this, then here are some possible solutions to your problem:

  • Fix it manually [if you've Windows 8, you probably have to do it this way]:

    WARNING!!
Playing with regedit can damage your windows if you are not being careful of what you are doing!! If you want to use this method, be careful to just change the values in here told to! If you want, create a System Restore Point just in case of something bad happens.  If you don't know how to use regedit then don't touch it!!
    WARNING!!
How to fix it manually by adding the values on the Regedit.exe[many thanks to will89 for sharing this in >>here<<]:
    Spoiler
If your Setup.exe doesn't work/open and there is no HEIGHT and WIDTH values at regedit in the following addresses:
    32-bit Win OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Gravity Soft\Ragnarok
    64-bit Win OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Gravity Soft\Ragnarok
Then just add it your self.
Right click > New > DWORD type > HEIGHT (32-bit) value > Select the Decimal option for Base, Enter values with double click, then click Okay.
Right click > New > DWORD type > WIDTH > Select the Decimal option for Base, Enter values with double click, then click Okay.

For some Windows 7 64-bit, DWORD (32-bit) Value is fine, after you put in HEIGHT or WIDTH for the name, right click it again to modify the value as instructed above.

You can use this method to modify the windows size just by changing the values stored in the WIDTH and HEIGHT registries.

  • Try to use ROExt to see if it can be a solution to the problem:
    Spoiler
    • First check if the server you're playing doesn't ban you for changing dinput.dll and dinput.ini[some servers do that!]
    • Get it from >>here<< and read the instructions about how to use it
    • Don't forget to do a backup from dinput.dll and dinput.ini if there are any at the folder of the server you're trying to play before applying just to play safe
    • Open the dinput.ini and check the instructions about 2) RO window size in the same topic that you got the ROExt, change it to one that you desire to use.

If any of the above methods don't work, then start to do the following ones:
  • Check if your kRO is up to date at 100%:
    Spoiler
    Run:

    • rsu-kro-rag-lite.exe
    • rsu-kro-renewal-lite.exe
    • the patcher of the server you're playing
and see if you've all the patchs or you're missing anyone and is doing it now.
Be sure that the patcher does get them without any error at all.
If you get any you may have to reinstall the game to get them.

  • Check the size of your grfs:
    Spoiler
Use this just as a reference, the size may vary with the updates made every week at kro and depends on each server since some doesn't even use/have them and some others have their own grfs with their customs/personal edits:

    • data.grf - 1.4-1.6 gb
    • rdata.grf - 425 mb around 100mb +/-  as of Q1 2013.

  • Check if you're launching it with admin rights:
    Spoiler
right click on the executable used to launch and choose launch as admin

  • x 2

I'll also throw in a screenshot of the newer setup.exe settings with English translation:

Credit goes to the person that made it.  I really do not know which server I installed came with it.
