Which set provides the highest hits per second? Assuming 190 ASPD (5 hits per second with 1 handed weapon)

#1 Double Daggers with Double Attack

#2 Katars

Let's assume that #1 hits 1.5*5=7.5 times a second when wielding only 1 dagger. Does this mean when dual wielding (and maintaining 190 ASPD), #1 would hit 15 times a second?

For katars, do they hit twice, eg. 10 times a second with 190 ASPD?

Both hit once every 10 ticks. RO runs at 50 ticks per second. Therefore, both would hit 5 times per second.

Katars hit "twice", I guess, but they count as a single attack. It'll show ten hits per second, but it's really just five bigger hits per second.

Daggers hit two times, except 50% of the time it's three instead of two. Again, those count as a single hit, but if you want the number of hits you SEE per second, it's roughly twelve and a half.

So, game mechanics wise, both hit at the exact same speed - 5 times/sec. Visually, the dual daggers hit 12.5 times/sec, the katars hit 10 times/sec. This seems like a small thing, but it does mean they'll both break Safety Wall at the same time, no matter what, and both will have the same proc rate for item effects.

What about against stuff like mushrooms and plants? Would it make any difference compared to a single wielded weapon?

Plants and mushrooms are weird little bastards. Double attack counts as a single hit against them, IIRC (you'll see Miss because it's doing half damage each, but it does count), but the off-hand hit DOES count as a separate attack! So you're hitting 10 times, no matter what weapon.

Unless I'm seriously mistaken and double attacks don't "miss" on plants (haven't played a Thief class in a while now!), in which case Daggers win by 2.5 hits per second.

EDIT : Compared to single wielding, that's twice the DPS.

#4
Double attack always counts as a single hit. It's not hitting twice (as in two full-length attacks) when it activates, so it's always the same speed. All combo attacks are a single hit.

Hmm that got me thinking, would the same apply for stuff like BG food storages and crystals? They take 1 damage per hit as well.

Triper

That depends *a bit* on how the server has it set but it's supposed to work as the plants since, afaik, it's how it works on officials.
