I am fine with necro'ing, why not?
If the thread is interesting it's okay.

I mean, most of us didn't even notice the necro in that world-cup thread, since it's just world-cup time currently and the thread fits the situation.

Because we like being right.
Publicly and loudly.

No, GREEEN. God DAMN IT. How can you NOT remember to mention that by doing such, it also boosts our pseudo intellectual penises?

Oh. We don't need that mentioned. It sorts of hangs out everywhere.

Relics have answered you the same way that I would like to answer.  He's a staff after all and his answer should deserve the authority in this case when you think I simply ignored your topic.

There might be good reason to reply to a topic that is considered "old", depend on what is being brought up and is it worth the talking again.  More important discussion will get ahead of any bumped topics as more posts are created for the discussion.  If there's meaningless bump we should get report on them and the post would be deleted while the topic can go back to rest.  We are not having problem with necro at this state, it's the daily routine of any forum.

Funny cause I've talked to Relics since than on msn and he thinks that if anything autolocking old topics would be a good idea. Furthermore if some topics are ok to be necroed, excuse my language, but than why the hell is necro posting against forum rules? And really? No problem with necro posting lately? Guess you just never saw it because Relics took care of it when you weren't online. Ppl haven't been mentioning 2+ year old necro posts for the fun of it, it's because it's been happening.

edit: in case you missed the jump in dates on this post... pay attention to the dates :P http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/general-chit-chat/lets-talk-about-the-world-cup/msg111052/#new
I still have mixed feelings about it.
Necro'ing is a mental issue that you yourself decide to be bothered by it, since in the end logically there is no difference between a resurrected thread or a new thread altogether.
pure aesthetics, mentally being bothered by a number that would say '2008' instead of '2010'

'Autolocking' which I told you I feel was a good idea, was an example of a more refined thought instead of having an archive since it would achieve the same goal and save the trouble of maintaining said archive.

Anyhow, I'll walk between these lines.. since I honestly don't mind either one of the two happening but the decision is not my call.

Patience, none of the staff is happy to read these kind of messages

Relics, if I seem "impatient" it's because this suggestion was originally made like a week ago, maybe longer? And even though yC had been online she hadn't replied to it.

Also, if the staff seems to think that posts with an older date on it "isn't a big deal" than why have necroing being against the rules at all? Why than do you guys chose to delete threads that someone has nercoed? Pick one side and stick with it; either necroing is bad and you guys do something about it or necroing is perfectly fine and you stop deleting posts that are necroed. Stop sitting on the fence with this stuff.

http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/general-chit-chat/forum-name-game/30/   <--- this is exactly what I mean. If it's not a big deal why did you guys lock this topic? Make up your minds instead of waffling about.

Relics

It is just my opinion, a rule is a rule I still punish necro.
even though certain things are rules am I not free to have my own thought about it ?_?
if the forum rules say do not necro, and my opinion about necro is that it's just a number, if i am a moderator I will still punish necro and put my feelings aside so that's not the point here.

I just find the new measures to counter necro (note new, since this is a request to implement something new) I will express my feelings about 'why' something should not be implemented, in this case because what I said before about just being mentally bothered by necro.

hope that clear things up

LemonCrosswalk

It's not as if I necroed the topic pointlessly. I was carrying on the game. Everyone stayed in topic, so why am I to be punished for it?

Relics

You're smart enough to know the answer, don't pull this on me.

or if you feel like shattering all the trust I had in you, so be it.

Kissa

Ya but if you go based on what yC said to me she technically didn't do anything wrong, which is exactly what I meant in my last post about you guys needing to make up your minds; it wasn't completely directed at you luv, I know you would do your job even if you thought it was silly.

Necro'ing is against the rules, unless you have something important to say (i've been doing that all along.), so note that there IS a condition on which under my discretion a topic can be ressed, just use common sense.

@Lemon
WK is active, people didn't mind the topic being ressed, np.
then it does not mean you can res a random topic about 'namecalling' that's just stupid. (but I figured you would know this by yourself already)

Kissa

*shrugs* I still think it should be one or the other. Either any necroing is ok or none at all. This whole "only if it's important" thing is too vague. Maybe in Lemons eyes that forum game topic *was* important. Who gets to decide what is considered important to someone else? I'm sure that person that necroed that "haro" topic thought it was important to share their opinion with us.

Your common sense tells you

Don't get me wrong, but if you can add an essay to a topic and necro'ing the topic adds more value to your topic/post then so be it. <-- Implying the post was worth the res with an obvious example.

Don't tell me that ressing a name-guessing topic was worth the res? How do you know this, because your common sense tells you it wasn't worth it.
I know, this can be hard for people so that's why there's a certain leniency with ressed topics, if the crowd doesn't mind, I don't mind (coupled with my own opinion/judgment of the situation), if the crowd goes, "wtfuuck 3 year worthless res you could've just make a new topic" then I'll clean the topic and PM the necroposter, or if the case was more 'severe' + the topic was ressed with what I assume another state of mind, ie; seeking limits/trolling/spamming I will warn you and lock the ressed topic.

Flexibility, that's all I ask of you, it profits you and me, but if you can't be flexible then you're just asking to be judge-fu'd JJJ style.

You obviously did not bribe them enough.

*polishes an apple on shoulder*

See, when people start questioning why a rule is a rule, it's usually better to tell them a reason rather than a wizard did it! because we felt like it.
Hell, stay with the struck out one. It sounds like more thought went into it than the latter.

yC

She gave up her suggestion, http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/junk-yard/absolutely-unfair/0/  and we are not going with it anyway.  End of discussion.
