Seeing as nothing really happens but the small server drama and review reports, it would be great to see some change and develop the community a bit more.
There was something like this being suggested a few years ago, and it was shot down then for people acting like retards about this.

I'll change to first post(topic starter) so it suits the current discussion.

Descent, you should take a drink, go easy on things.  Don't overexert yourself too much with complicated things.  Read it again and be positive, it's not hard.  Then read it once more so you get it.

As for who I am..

If you would like, you can read the first post of this topic and discover untold words regarding this topic, and the development of rms-kind.

Yeah, good save after you got called out, editing the post so you don't sound an arrogant, know-it-all snot. Kudos to you.

Omi

I can guarantee if we were given a "Realm Of Insanity" for users here it would be worse quality than the posts contributed by Zeel.

SilverStream~

No it wouldn't be a realm of insanity, it'd be more like a more private part of rms.  Albeit some might be against having a more private section of rms and want to have a totally open path of rms, so we all can sit in the light of the lord and... yeah.

To be serious I believe this is a good suggestion.  Many, many forums around the.. uh .. was gonna say globe, but internet fits I guess, have this kind of thing.  Regular users get a pinch more things than completely new users.

Having a post count feature is easy, and it encourages more posting(not spamming).  Maybe someone wants to ask server questions, but feels that asking in plain public is more embarrassing(yes the internet is embarrassing to post around in for some) than to ask in a place where the person knows that not the entire world will read it.

It could be used to discuss most things except hardcore ero games and porn.  yC is strongly against 18+ material and Descent you said yourself when you locked a thread zone started that yC would have a heart attack and strangle you if you kept it going.  Having a section where you can post safe for work material and other things, -doesn't really matter what it is- is good for a forum to have.  It can contain rants long or small, which here are practically non-existent because it's not allowed, or there simply isn't a section for it.

I don't believe in separating forum members into groups.  Nor having any protected forums for older members or regulars.

Doing so mean we acknowledge those that have no access are morons?  Descent has a point, what make you less of a moron than those that you identified as moron.  Excuse me, I mean if your intention is "without having tons of morons hogging it and posting".  Then I am sorry the post count method will not work.  The only method will work for you is you pick people to be your "regulars" and that is not a solution we can offer.  Having a post count restricted section does not mean you will not see people you don't want to see post in topic you don't want them to post.  Eventually, the so called "morons" will catch up to you and get into the section.

If you only want replies from people you prefer, I think a forum is not a tool you should use.  With that intention in mind, this suggestion is pointless.

Also, for "Talking about interserver things, discussing various servers without having a ton of server admins go wtfbananasplits over it".  Isn't it the same as talking people behind their back?  While they have no chance to reply to clear the matter themselves?  We have the hall of shame and encourage server staff to reply for the exact opposite reason.

SilverStream~

Yes quite true, but what I see now is that you took very, very huge notice to that fact that I used the term "moron", and "idiots".

I'll rest my case for now seeing it's 23:17 and I have to go to work tomorrow.

If you won't see the post in another light than what you desire to look upon it as, then I won't force you.  I see now I need to post in a more.. different way to get my messages out.
Maybe high school level would be suitable, but who knows.  I'll think about that when I wake up.

Someone who joined the RMS forum recently or visits the forum regularly are not any different.  Sure, one's been here longer than the other, but that doesn't give the older members any special privileges.  Sounds more like favouritism than anything else.

Even with the intentions to filter out the 'morons' and 'idiots', it's impossible to tell at first glance/post.  And no, putting a restriction by using post counts will only encouraged people to post more (Idiotically perhaps) for that privilege or exclude many by making some feel discouraged to even bother doing so.

Besides, the only statuses with difference in power that exists in RMS forums are:
Administrators
Global Moderators
Local Moderators
Everyone else, excluding the bannedcakes.

This isn't RUNE, we aren't any bit more special than the next user.

Oh yeah sorry I didn't see this earlier, and you're right we should all be equal here.

it's not like we have any discussions that aren't open to the public.

SilverStream~

True, we should keep having all things into the open, and expose that which is not.

However we do have some that aren't open to the public.  Albeit being about our relationship which is out in the open for all to see, we still don't discuss our kamasutra out door polo horse riding exercises with other people zone.

We don't talk about it here either, unless in private messages.
