Another suggested improvement to map system
« on: May 07, 2008, 09:36 pm »
There are numerous places where an NPC is specified via coordinates like prontera_in(125,37).  What I've noticed is that all the *_in maps are broken up into pieces, and warped to by another map (like prontera to prontera_in).  The problem is, it's a very tedious process to figure out which warp in the start map may or may not get you to the proper *_in coordinates.

You CAN do it by bringing up a map detail of a town and looking at the warp coordinates, but it's really tedious to try to match the coordinates manually.  It hurts my brain.  You don't know which corner of the inside map you'll warp into, so you don't know if you need x,y coordinates greater or less than the NPC coordinates.

In other words, it would be much more helpful to have the prontera(x,y) coordinates of the warp into the shop where an NPC is, rather than to have the prontera_in(x,y) coordinates of the NPC  itself.  The shops are usually so small, I could easily find the NPC without having its exact coordinates.

I realize that it could be difficult or impossible to glean this information out of the map databases, but just in case it's not that hard, I thought I'd ask

Thanks!
Dean

from reading it.  It seems your problem, is solved by the "You are Here" pointer.  If you are from the inside map, you click the warp from the shop you want to go out of, and then in prontera you see the "You are Here" pointer then you know that warp in prontera lead you to that inside building you just warped out of.

... is that what you mean?

Ok, I didn't think of doing it that way -- good idea

Thanks
