For those wondering, I mean a server where you can mix and match any skill and build a class of your own. For example, you would be able to build a full support character that has heals, links, buffs, and chemical protection. Or be a full blown martial artist with a Monk's punches and TK's kicks. Et cetera.

A different game as an example would be Champions Online, or RaiderZ. The Secret World advertised that they'd have this, but that did not happen. For an offline example, The Elder Scrolls games would count, and the offline version of Phantasy Star Universe.

It doesn't necessarily mean that all players can use all skills. It can implement a different system for allowing skill freedom. For example, one server I've been in modified the card/equipment system so that everyone has access to no skills by default, but slotting gives either skills or stats. While another had a more vanilla approach, where everyone has access to all trees, and have to go through them using SP to get the skills you want.

I'm not really picky about specifics as long as it's freeform, but my preferences are:

- For level caps, base would be anything below 150 if it's using pre-Renewal mechanics. Preferably with higher job caps than normal to accommodate freeform (unless it uses a different skill system).

- Rates would be preferably high. I don't want to spend months just to achieve mediocrity.

- Population-wise, I'd prefer below 50. With English as a primary language.

- A special feature I'd want is that I wouldn't want to be a slave to the RNG.

I know it's a long shot (and I'm pretty sure I asked for one before), but does any exist right now? I've been in a couple, but those have since closed.

Hey this is definitely a little late of a reply, but if you're interested in a pre-renewal server that does have shared skills between classes by items then I suggest you look at http://spectrum-ro.net/.

Our changelogs are listed here:

I actually have had this thought cross my mind before and I think it would be cool to do, but in a balanced way.

Isn't that pretty much how RO does it by default? I didn't see anything in the logs that changes this to something close to what I'm looking for. Thanks for the offer, though.

So, I'm bumping this.

Triper

He wants, if I'm not wrong, what RaiderZ, another mmo game, does, in case someone wants an example to google for.

I haven't known about RaiderZ, but reading a bit about it, that's close to what I'm looking for. Champions Online would be another good example (actually where I picked up the term Freeform).

The Elder Scrolls games would be a more well-known offline example.

The server does not need to have every skill unlocked for everyone. One of the freeform servers I've played had modified the equipment & skill tree system where everyone has access to no skills by default, but you can either gain skills or boost your stats through slotting. While the other had a mechanic closer to vanilla where everyone had access to (and work their way through) every skill tree.

EDIT:

Also, I know that expanded SuNos have flexibility in terms of skill choice. Close, but not quite.

Xinth

Not giving up on this, so... BUMP.

Also, edited OP for more details.

It is a high rate.

We do communicate in English and yes we are around 70-100 active players for now.

- A special feature I'd want is that I wouldn't want to be a slave to the RNG.

No 3rd Jobs.
Custom items.

I don't mean to be rude but did you even read what I was looking for? Even your bolded replies didn't match that feature, except for it being high rate. And even then, I said that those things are not my priority.

Side note and off-topic: Cool looking site, even if the top part causes some eyestrain. But it isn't informative enough. It mentions recreating Xile, but what if the player has no idea what that was? For example, me, whom you're advertising to.

paradise2

This is actually something our GM team has been toying with for the last month or so. We haven't released anything yet, and aren't even close to a working model, but some day it's something we really want to try out. We're perfectionists though, so don't expect anything soon; we aim to do things right the first time, and somethign as grandiose as this will take a lot of coding and tinkering. That being said, although we don't have it yet, perhaps you'd like to try out our server (noted below) in the mean time, just to see the sort of mechanics we have in play to expand the metagame. What you're suggesting will be our final step, but for now, we're using completely overhauled mechanics to perfect the RO that's available to us at the moment.

I'm not really picky about specifics as long as it's freeform, but my preferences are:

- For level caps, base would be anything below 150 if it's using pre-Renewal mechanics. Preferably with higher job caps than normal to accommodate freeform (unless it uses a different skill system).
Our level caps are a bit higher at 190/90 (190/110 for extended classes). We have done this to accommodate our rates and make new builds viable. We're tired of cookie cutter builds and one trick ponies.

- Rates would be preferably high. I don't want to spend months just to achieve mediocrity.
Our rates are 2000x-3500x Base/Job EXP 500x-750x Regular Drops (Floating), 300x MVP Drops, 2% MVP cards 4% Miniboss Cards (Angeling, Ghostring, etc.) 5% regular cards

- Population-wise, I'd prefer below 50. With English as a primary language.
RIght now our pop fluctuates between 20~40

- A special feature I'd want is that I wouldn't want to be a slave to the RNG.
We have a voucher systems. Every MVP drops it at 100% and some miniboss at 10%. You can trade those vouchers in for MVP cards. That way you can hedge your losses.

I know it's a long shot (and I'm pretty sure I asked for one before), but does any exist right now? I've been in a couple, but those have since closed.

I think you've forgotten that you've already posted (see #2). I appreciate the more detailed offer, but since freeform is still in development, I'm gonna decline again.

Admittedly, some features you mentioned could fit in what was my Plan B, but not fully meet them. And since I've found a server that could meet my Plan B requirements... yeah.

The server seems interesting, though. Gonna keep it in mind if I'm looking for something closer to vanilla. However, I disliked the lack of RE (mechanics & classes).

Xinth

Heh. I guess I underestimated how much of a long shot this is. Still not giving up, though, so... BUMP.

...and maybe it'll inspire someone to create this kind of server or something. *crosses fingers*
