Question: the server offered rewards for rewiews, screenie was posted by devilsnevercry a few posts above. It is dated May 24th 2009, did server actually got delisted because of that?

As far as I can remember, they've always stuck within guidelines. "Most active player" =/= "review us for points!!!".

Isn't saying you're giving out prizes for advertising, Then linking RMS kinda against the guidelines

However the link shown is server seeking, I haven't read the rules(lolol) but do they say reviews only or no incentives to invite people to the server?(It comes down to this, If incentives to recruit people on server seeking is against the rules they should be delisted, Otherwise no, Simple as that, Also from what I recall from reading the thread people such as Tigress did review it for that event, However Ymir never told them to and I don't know if they were offered prizes for this)

They had 2 contests going on, I do believe.
One for being active INGAME (decided via the database and all), and one for actively doing the most to recruit new players. Which meant ads, reviews, and at one stage, Tigress nagging players to bump topics over the 3month inactivity mark.

But the RMS link they give links to the Server Seeking forum. Not to reviews or anything? oO

This topic started almost makes me not want to try Ymir even more, not due to the review but because of how the players of the server responded to this review...X_X

It almost seems to have changed what it was originally about, or has changed from about the guilds on Ymir to about supposed rewards for reviews.  Classic ;o

Actually this happens commonly bad review is written about Ymir-RO overzealous players like Tiggy get defensive about the bad review and then some third party runs through our forums and drags up some things that are irrelevant to the whole review. And instead of being about the nicely written review it's about something completely different that usually results in the locking of the review. Whereas reviews about how good the place are are typically read and left alone.  -shrug-

Though the only people from Ymir-RO to respond are Me, Forum Dunce, and Tiggy (whom I shall refer to as Forum Dunce 2.0 if Tiggy doesn't get Tiggy's act together because arguing with reviews is just pointless since they are based on Individual experience).
Proof or it didn't happen.
All server reviews are based on a reviewers experience.
This is how negative server reviews work.

And this, my friend, is why I'm so glad to see you posting again. Your rational sense of issues like this has been sorely missed.

People, people!! Reviews are based on an individual's personal experience! If somebody posts saying they had a bad time on the server, more often than not, it's honesty. Human beings are varied, as are their likes and dislikes.

Just because a server review isn't 100/100 doesn't necessarily mean it's fake, it means they themselves didn't enjoy it there.

And who makes a 100/100 rating anyways.

That's like only for games like.. Monkey Island.. and Super Mario.  Newer games always have some kind of flaw.

A 100/100 rating makes it too good to be true.  There is no server that will be so great, so up to date, so bot free, so populated, so bug free, so perfect that it will get a 100/100 rating.

I think the number ratings are bs anyways, I never use numbers to rate games <.< It's so.. analytical.  If you enjoy a game, then play it.  If someone else says that the game is this and that, and they enjoyed themselves, then try it out.  Numbers mess most things up =.=

Aye there is always something wrong with a server.

Forget the 100/100. I don't even bother reading the 90+ ones. Those are basically like "how to make this review sound perfect without looking obvious? let's take off 1 from class balance, and 1 from economy! 98/100, there!"

The best part of RMS reviews for me is to purposely find the 70 or below reviews, then look at how the head admin responds to those reviews. If the server is true to its words and the head admin knows what he/she is doing, the self-defense from the head admin should show.
