YmirRO
« on: Aug 14, 2009, 05:26 am »
YmirRO is an Australian based server which is hosted in the US. I myself, live in Australia so I decided to try it out. It is a low rate 10/10 server which HAD around 100+ online average, until the server mysteriously went down for 2 months without any notice or information given. Now on a good day it peaks at 45 players and around 60+ during WoE. It is also a no donations server, meaning they shouldn't reward donators with items. However, they began offering small incentives for donators. Nothing imbalanced like some other servers, though. They re-opened with 2x rates, this is probably one of the worst mistakes they have ever made. The people who joined initially enjoyed x20 rates which got them to lvl99 much faster than you would now, this really put off many newcomers today since they're surrounded by a sea of trans and maxed out characters.

Now off to my ratings.

Stability: 8/10

Because it’s hosted in the US, and this is an Australian based server, you will find some lag if you play in Australia. If you don’t play in Australia, you should be fine but there will be no point to playing since no one will be on during your timezone.

Availability:  5/10

I really don't know how to rate this. The server went down for 2 months without a word, but since then it has been online pretty much always. But that incident has still left many players uncertain and feeling insecure. I decided to give it half of the maximum score.

Friendliness: 6/10

Some of the players really friendly and some are the complete opposite. When I first joined there was one person who helped me a lot by providing me some basic gear and zeny to get me going. After playing it for awhile, I notice some players are very rude. Especially on the forums, they will flame you for the smallest things.

Events: 3/10

GMs are almost never online. No events are ever held by them. The only reason why I gave it a 3 is because I heard that there are some automated events. Haven't tried them.

GM Friendliness: 6/10

Some of the GMs are friendly and some aren't. I won't name any names here, but let's just say a certain friend of the owner needs to learn how to talk to people with some respect.

GM Availability: 1/10

GMs are hardly ever online. They like to solve most problems on the forums. Throughout my entire stay on YmirRO, I have not seen any GMs online at all. I live in Australia, so I'm online during the peak hours as well.

GM Helpfulness: 4/10

Getting instant support is impossible. You have to wait hours to get any form of support because they only answer through the forums, which they don't even monitor that actively. It takes ages for GMs to get anything done; they have to get support from the entire server before making any real decisions. Though, it isn't a lot of people, everyone has different views from one another.

Economy: 3/10

Very poor economy here, there are about 7-8 venders which have been there for many days and have sold nearly nothing. Zeny has almost no value here, apart from using the healer or resetting stats.

Guild Competition: 6/10

Guilds competition isn't too bad; there are quite a few guilds here that are active in WoE. The only problem is that there is one guild which practically dominates all the others, because they were here from the start. New guilds will find it very difficult to compete because most guilds already have all their gears and are Trans/maxed out.

Class Balance: 6/10

This isn't that bad either; once you enter the server you'll notice that not everyone is a SinX or Sniper. There appears to be SOME sort of diversity among the classes. I've seen much better though.

Final score: 48/100

I guess there aren’t any decent Australian servers anymore. I’m sure this server once showed promise, but the lack of active players in the community probably de motivated the GMs to the extent that the enthusiasm once shown is now gone. I’m going to have to find another server and bear with the American time zones.

I didn't really have a problem with the rest of your review (although it was quite harsh), but I certainly did with this particular aspect. I'm a Lord Knight in L I G H T, the guild that 'dominates' all the other guilds. We're actually a very new guild indeed, it's our competition who have members that have been here from the start. I myself still sport a few +4 gears, I'm far from having all my final gears and I'm definitely not the only person in my guild in this state. Most of our mains aren't 99/70 yet, I have no idea where you got that idea. I also find it very questionable that you're saying that new guilds can't compete with us, we beat a guild that had been established for quite a long time with a guild a few weeks old. I don't see any reason why we couldn't be beaten by new players, provided that they actually knew what they were doing.

I'm not going to argue with you, because it's a lost cause. About 70% of the people in Prontera are already trans. New guilds definitely can't compete when you guys already have equips like ghostring cards.

This is the last time I will be viewing or replying to this topic. RO has too much drama, this is my review and how I HONESTLY felt after playing it.

Look, this isn't flaming or drama, but I heartily dislike you propagating such lies about our guild - it gives the impression that your review's original intent was to damage and isolate ymir-RO as much as possible, instead of creating something accurate and unbiased.

Incidentally, the opposition (not the dominating guild) are the ones with 'equips like ghostring cards'. Interpret that as you will.

His review, not yours, guy. People who play the server will see differently if he's truly lying.

Furious, If you do happen to reply again how long have you played? The guild competition has always been better then most other servers, By far(It might of changed now, I only log in to talk rarely but I know Ymir's always had good competition)

Anyway I could agree with everything on the review, Forum Dunce he's not "bashing" the server, Look at prontera and tell me there is more economy then he said, Etc(And I'm not bashing it either, 90% of servers these days would get a 3/10 from me)

I take my hat off to this review.

Readable, but with examples, and to my (very short) experience, quite accurate.

You didn't read my posts. I wasn't arguing with the rest of his points, I was simply saying that the vast majority of the 'dominating' guild were NOT on the server anywhere near where it started and the levels/gear we have ANYONE could get within about 3 weeks. Saying anything otherwise is deliberately being dishonest.

Apparently you didn't read mine, either.

You can play the "he-said/she-said" game all you want with me, but without proof, you're both blowing smoke.

Put up or shut up.

Quick statement of known fact from the one and only Tigress, (one of the longest staying player on the server):
1) I assume "dominant guild" is referring to LIGHT.
Basically LIGHT became dominant only after 2weeks joining the server. Unlike what is said in the review.

2) LIGHT doesn't have godly gears. LIGHT which is the 2nd youngest guild on the server has ZERO MVP CARDS, and 3 MINI-BOSS CARDS. (only one being ghostring).  Some of them even have +4 woe equipments ~.~.

3) The older guilds on the server have the awesome gears. Some gears i know exist on the server are : +9 tidal, +9 shoes, GTB card, at least one more GR card somewhere, Ice picks, Combat Knife, Ocean Armor[1], a Valk set.

4) The youngest guild on the server Redemption need more lvls, and the basic woe gears. There is no point complaining about someone having a GR card if a guild doesn't have the lvl95+ trans chars, and basic equips such as Wool/Tidal/Raydric/Noxious/Matyr/GreenFerus/PvP Gear/featherBeret.
END.

CONTINUE :)
About lvling : in my experience on Ymir-RO ONLY takes a week to lvl a char to lvl95 trans on 10x rate. After that, you can hunt your gears, and within 2~3 weeks, you can get an entire guild geared for woe. This is exactly what LIGHT did when they joined the server... so I don't see whats the point of complaining about lvl 99 trans characters.
An example: I happened to have been interested in a 7x server which just opened for 1 week. I looked up their control panel.. and although 1 week old it already has 5~7 players with lvl 97+ trans.
END.

All I see are a bunch of words that mean nothing and people who can't seem to understand what a person's opinion/personal experience is.

Quoted for truth.

First qft I have done in.. two years I think.

Let people have their opinions, if they like it it might not mean you like it, and it doesn't mean the reviewer is telling you that you must like it.

I promised I wouldn't read, nor reply here again. I saw how many replies were made in just a day, and decided that I have to check what people are saying.

I know a lot of people who are able to get to lvl99 in 2 days on a x10 server and trans in about 5 days. I don't know what server you're talking about with x7 rates and already 5~7 lvl97+ trans in 2 weeks, but I imo its not hat unbelievable. All it takes is a few hardcore RO players who know the best places to level up in the shortest amount of time. You said it was newly opened, well thats the reason why. People on a newly opened server will play for MANY hours straight to get to trans the first.

Also, who said I said Light was the 'dominant' guild? I said there was a guild which was there from way back, and have near godly eq and mvp card. It looks like you guys are calling yourself dominant. Which then proves my point that there IS a dominant guild.

Anway, it's funny how players feel so attacked by a review. I have nothing against YmirRO, in my opinion I wouldn't play it again. If anyone wants to start playing the server to prove me wrong, please do so. I wish all the players of YmirRO the best of luck and I hope your server grows, despite the obvious flaws.

Part of me respects your review

the other part of me is laughing really hard because your server, when you made it, had worse flaws than the ones you mentioned.
